M&P 9mm - Solution is being offered by S&W

It's Greentips sandbox...let the man play in it.

That said, someday I may still get a M&P, but I'll be putting more research into their Customer service towards Canadians.

I decided against a springfield XD 9 on the fact you need to ship the gun to the US to get fixed as there is no where in Canada to do so. ( Might have changed since but I'm getting a Glock 17 anyways...)

I like my Smitty's

Mine has been 100% great. Sorry you got a bum gun.
I will purchase a Glock within the next year, it'll probably be a lemon( knowing my luck ) and I will post about it.

Mine is as smooth as a baby's butt.

I can shoot it til I'm knee deep in brass & it'll never jam or malfunction with factory or hand loads.

I have lots of Smitty's (auto's, wheel guns & long guns) with barrels anywhere from 2" (snub 38) - 24" (rifle) & 2 T/Cs (which are also S&W) & they're my best shooting guns.

My :sniper:T/C (S&W) Icon bolt action in 300 Win. Mag. will put 3 bullets into one ragged hole at 100 yards.

You must have bought a 1 in a million dud.

Keep it as a collector's item because fcuked from the factory Smitty's are rare indeed.

I disagree. S&W should fix it properly for any consumer, not just someone in a position to make a stink about it.

I also disagree with the guys saying basically that its a great pistol so Greentips should have kept quiet about it. S&W may make a great pistol but if they don't do right when there is a problem then they are not a good company. I think the parallel with the American auto industry is a good one.

I never ever tell people I run CGN when I buy stuff, other than the handfull who recognize my voice or I know a bit more on personal level. I got some pretty bad attitude on the phone, that you will never ever hear me talk about here.

Anyways, they owe me 11 months and, to those who do not like the sticky, their service department did not make objection after I clearly communicate my intention to post my experience on the internet- so I am just making their wish come true! :dancingbanana:

Their VP of Sales had known of this situation fo 32 hours already. Everything is fair.

Maybe I was too polite with these S&W people, I should have yelled and screamed at them. :p

I had a case failure in my M&P, it went back to MDCharlton, then off to S&W, where they replaced everything but the frame, then sent it back to me. all was no charge other than my shipping to MDC. was treated great.

Which of the two depots did it go to?

Her gun went to Wortner Gun Works. It's been there since early Sept. and when she called 3 weeks ago was told not to expect it anytime soon because it's hunting season and he is too busy with rifle work to get to it.

Nice.

Wow, sure seems to be more misses than hits with S&W customers service in Canada but its good to see that Slavex was treated good and got good service. Maybe S&W will get it sorted out with the repair depots in Canada. I hope I don't have any problems with my M&P until they do. :)

Funny, I haven't heard any complaints from the people I know that have M&P's.

You never did answer whether or not you tried the working BBL in your gun. Frankly, you haven't actually said what 'troubleshooting' you did...

well one good thing E, is that we know S&W will know of it now, just wonder if they will sue you or give you a new gun?
Myself i would never buy a S&W semi auto, they have not made a good one todate.
Good luck with it.
Remmber the reason the Afgan police were issued with it is because its the cheapest mass made gun US made gun they could buy.
They would have been better with the 92f POS..

Murray has built and serviced 2 PPC revolvers for me.. I've been happy with his work to date... S&W's service policy really sucks... and has made me decide that I don't need an M&P ( I was going to look at one to compare it to my Glocks...)

However that being said it's really no different then when Springfield told me that the sight that I threw off my 1911 was my problem (even if I'd only fired 6 rounds!)

When I threw the 2nd on from the V16 about 2 weeks later ( 45 rounds in) I figured that I would never buy another Springfield product again and told them as much... Strange that they offered to send me 2 sights in the mail... (the smithing charges were my responsability....)

I think GT is totally justified in his post on the main page. It is after all, HIS forum. Big companies have to be called out on stuff like this as it is completely unacceptable. You don't neglect your customers, who work hard for the money to pay for you product, once you have their money. It is both S&W and the Canadian distributor's fault. How hard would it be for S&W after hearing this story, to say, I don't know, pickup the phone maybe??, call their distributor in Canada, and tell them to send him a new pistol?

I remember a while back when I contacted the company I bought my Glock from regarding the dust cover on my G17 being curved upwards slightly. The next day I had an email from the Canadian Glock rep I think it was, saying that this was normal (which I have since discovered is 100% true), but that if I was not 100% satisfied with my gun, he would gladly replace it with a brand new one. Within 2 weeks of shipping it back, I had a brand new Glock, and that is including the time for the restricted transfer.

Is this the glock 17 I just bought from you? You had it in for warrenty work/
What?

Might as well put a banner up for Taurus firearms as well. Tried to get a small part for my son's pistol. Nothing doing in Canada. No service no nothing.

Take Care

I have an MP9, never had any reliability issues with it, other than a couple stovepipes when shooting Winchester white box 124grain.

I just hate it because of how ridiculously innacurate it is in comparison to my K100, as well as its lack of a way to de-#### it. I havnt even shot it since May or June.

WOW, can’t believe what i have been reading. I managed some large customer service centers in the past (software) and if any of my reps treated you like they did, they will have the pink slip in no time!

About a year ago i purchased an M&P 9mm and out of the box it had issues. Called the company i purchased from (Fronter) and they asked if i could have someone who is familiar with the firearm to give it a try. Got one of the executives from my range to give it a try. Swapped some of his parts and diagnosed as a issue with the barrel. Told Frontier my findings and they shipped me a new barrel (courier) and i mailed mine back. From that point on gun worked flawlessly.

Can't speak for S&W, but i can speak for Frontier Firearms - they were great and will definitely buy from them again.

Small claims cost 50 Bucks. I would consider taking smith and wesson to small claims court. The process is very easy. You make a complaint, sue smith and wesson for damages. They have 30 days to respond. If they do not respond within thirty days you can get a default judgement. Or they can fight the claim and a year later you get a court date with an adjudicator. You give your side of the story and smith and wessons lawyer gives there.

Probable outcome is its a less of a pain in the A$$ for them to give you the refund and avoid the legal fees. But its a free country and they can do whatever they like.

I have gotten default judgements, usually the corporations pay up in the initial 30 days to respond. I have gotten to court and they show up with a bunch of lawyers and briefs because the insurance companies needs to beat me in order to avoid setting a precedent.

Plus from what I have read and heard, because the Springfield's have a lifetime warranty or whatever, you cant just buy parts for it. They want to do all the work themselves, which I think takes place in Croatia....

Ive seen guys waiting 8 months to get their XDs back from the shop. It is flat out ridiculous...

There are some developments - but not from S&W.

48 hours and counting! 2 workings days and 3 people in the organization CCed, nothing happened yet!:dancingbanana:

I want to recover my 100 dollars of shipping too.

Yep, looks like I am stuck with it...whenever it comes back.... "Don't ya know Dear (ugghh) ,it's hunting season?".

One of our shooters sent her M&P off for warranty work with the FTE problem. It was more messed up when it came back. So back it went. The warranty depot in Canada is incompetent, IMO.

For that reason only, I'd never buy an M&P or any other new Smith and Wesson.
