Received my JR Carbine this morning, and it's pretty sweet. Made a few videos of the unboxing and test firing, and hopefully they show enough detail of the various parts of the rifle. I'll wait until it warms up somewhat before doing any accuracy tests, and I'd like to get some different ammo types to try also.

As has been mentioned the stock comes pinned in the extended position and is easy enough to free up. I'll have to obtain an AR tool to remove the stock and disassemble it fully, and it will be getting an ambi safety as soon as I can get one here. Aside from requiring tools takedown looks simple and straight forward enough, and moving the charging handle and ejector for lefty use is simple also.

The finish on the receiver is quite nice, even and smooth. The magwell and forend are somewhat rougher, and will peel fuzz off of kleenex (and my T-shirt too). Everything is tight and solid, with the exception of the usual stock rattle and some wiggle in the magwell. The balance point is in the center of the magwell, and it feels just a little nose heavy to me when holding it offhand.

I'm going to drink some Magpul Kool-aid this weekend, and think some FDE accessories will look nice on it. The barrel really cries out for a fake can or shroud or something though. Not that it looks that bad, but it does stick out there.

Anyhoo, enough yammering and on to the videos...

Ahhhh, nothing worse than a bored farmer with a new gun and a camera. :)

Fired another box of ammo off, and the rifle functioned 100%. Aside from the stovepipe on the 20th shot there hasn't been a single problem in 100 rounds now. I mounted up the fakepoint and after shooting the crap out of some milk jugs and cardboard boxes I decided to take out a target to 50m...

The first 5 were high and right, and after a scope adjustment I settled in a little better for the last 5. Not too bad for over the hood of the truck with the windchill at -23, so I'm guessing there will be some improvement once I can get back to the bench with some better ammo. And speaking of using a truck for a rest...the rails on the handguard are Sharp! Make sure you're not concerned about your paint job if you don't have some good padding underneath it.

You of course mean "dry firing" off the hood of your truck.... ;)

Real nice looking gun you have there!

Thanks for the reports. Would you mind putting a few cast bullets through that puppy and giving an update on how it goes.

I've never been a big fan of pistol caliber carbines...though I would love an decent sub gun like an MP5, the longer rifle versions don't really interest me.

So Farmer Harv I have one quick question, does the guns action sound really mechanical like metal on plastic or even metal on metal. I sold my SUB 2000 due to the very mechanical sound it made, it was very bothersome and distractiong. Awesome report and thanks for taking the time to do so!!!!!!!

Awesome vids, thanx for posting for us
Any idea what the delayed mechanical sound is after each shot?
Any chance you could fire the 10 rounds quicker to see how that works?
Totally jealous of your shooting range:D

" I was under the impression that this gun took a unique mag and that it was pinned to 5 rds? "

It takes normal Glock pistol magazines which hold ten rounds. Apparently it's completely legal despite being a centre-fire rifle. Nobody is complaining.

Drewz, I never noticed any ,mechanical noises. And now that you mention it, I don't remember and sproiiing from the tube either. I'll have to pay more attention tomorrow.

Zerex, do you mean the "tick" noise? I wasn't watching, but I wonder if that's the spent casing hitting the shop door? I'll try again tomorrow and see if that's it. And running ten mucho faster should be easy to do also. :)

Oh, and Madness... :p :D
