Received my JR Carbine this morning, and it's pretty sweet. Made a few videos of the unboxing and test firing, and hopefully they show enough detail of the various parts of the rifle. I'll wait until it warms up somewhat before doing any accuracy tests, and I'd like to get some different ammo types to try also.
As has been mentioned the stock comes pinned in the extended position and is easy enough to free up. I'll have to obtain an AR tool to remove the stock and disassemble it fully, and it will be getting an ambi safety as soon as I can get one here. Aside from requiring tools takedown looks simple and straight forward enough, and moving the charging handle and ejector for lefty use is simple also.
The finish on the receiver is quite nice, even and smooth. The magwell and forend are somewhat rougher, and will peel fuzz off of kleenex (and my T-shirt too). Everything is tight and solid, with the exception of the usual stock rattle and some wiggle in the magwell. The balance point is in the center of the magwell, and it feels just a little nose heavy to me when holding it offhand.
I'm going to drink some Magpul Kool-aid this weekend, and think some FDE accessories will look nice on it. The barrel really cries out for a fake can or shroud or something though. Not that it looks that bad, but it does stick out there.
Anyhoo, enough yammering and on to the videos...
