Factory 71 records were lost for 71s so no Cody letter.I count 10 things wrong with this gun and would like to get it back to it's former glory. The only clue I have that it WAS a deluxe is that the fore end tip has the hole in the bottom for the sling swivel stud. Bolt peep is missing too, thats a biggie but with a little hope one will surface. They are on ebay but I dont know how to bid and set all that up.

338, nice pic. Any man who can have twins is a lucky guy ;) :D
 
In case anybody is interested, there is a 71 bolt peep for sale on ebay right now (ends in about 45 minutes) The guy has told me he will ship to Canada, and the price is now at about $400.

Ouch!! A little rich for my blood. I thought I paid a lot when I spent $100.oo for a set of original detachable sling swivels.

Actually, I find that a lot will ship to Canada, you just got to ask. When they sign up, I suspect that a lot of them just use the default for shipping that only has the US, so we never see their stuff if we ony go to ebay.ca.

Exactly. Always use Ebay.com and always ask. 9 times out of 1o when I ask a seller if he will ship to Canada, he will. Had a few that wont, but the vast majority have had no problem with that.

I sold this one a few years ago. Regretted it right away. Located it again quite by coincidence. It cost me a lot more to buy it the second time, but no regrets now. It has 3 factory special order features. 22H sporting rear sight, Noshoc butt pad and was ordered with no sling swivels. Oh, and Johnn, thanks for all the info you sent me a while ago. It was very informative and helpful.

I need a favour guys. Could someone please post a closeup picture of the sling stud/ forearm tip of their deluxe please. Mine has a hole in it's bottom that suggests my rifle was a deluxe but due to the number of changes that were made to if I have a suspicion that someone tried to deluxify a standard. Also does anyone know just how the super grade stud was attached to the forearm tip, that might just tell me what I need to know. Screwed from inside, soldered, nut on the inside ? Many thanks ! Lots of ###Y 71's surfacing !
