1760 yard shoot, its a go. 25 shooters signed up.

Awesome guys, the more 338 friendly targets the better. People around here are starting to cut their hay already. I hope he does the field soon.
Sounds cool Johnny, how do you protect the camera from being bullet fodder. How far away can it be placed? Is it wireless?
I'm still slow-wheelin with this broken rib. I hope it knits together soon. The click click when I breath, stopped 3 days ago. I hope thats a good sign. I stopped the 1800mgs of ibuprofen, cold. I'm just going nuts trying not to rip it apart lifting things that need to be lifted. 100 lb propane bottle, k series oxygen bottle. I've learned to use my tractor in many creative ways for lifting things. Time to get going on house build.

The System is totally wireless from camera to reciver. Two antenas set up, one at target with transmitter and one at reciver. Just need line of site and as for the camera set it of to the side and zoom in and focus. Should work good.

Wireless cool.
Ya Max I'm hoping a few show up friday sept 23rd to help set up. I can load the targets onto the trailer with my tractor and then we drive along the field setting them out, by hand. I will be marking the distances after the hay is cut. I have a few things to get built/done before the big day and move them to the site. Outhouse firepit firewood target stands.
Everyone bring a lawn chair.

I've been told that I need to rest and just do nothing but read a book. So the ribs can knit together. That bites. I'm a tinkerer, sitting still, only when driving!! A couple of times now they have knit a bit and I tore them apart again, lifting targets!! I'm getting tired of the burning pain and clicking.
Mack Bolan (Author Don Pendleton) here we come.
I'll keep that in mind Max, as we get closer to the date. After the ribs heal abit.

Update

Things are starting to come together. I found someone willing to part with some tubing to make some more stands. The targets have a coat of paint or 3 and I found a piece of pipe that I cut in half and flattened with my (cageless)50 ton press(whew). Turned out 20"X30". I will weld a head on the top, make it more silhouette'ish. Just need some larger stuff for the last three targets and were set.
So I've not lifted anything over 60 lbs for 5 days, the rib hasn't clicked for 5 days, good sign its knitting. I'm going a little stir crazy though. 3rd book.
The farmer says he may or maynot cut the hay. That means we will be trying to shoot from benches/ trailers, over top of the hay. I'll see about getting a mower in for the camping site, if he doesn't cut it.
I have 10 stands now

Jesus Tigrr........

Your wife will divorce you unless you show results for your house.

Na she's the one watching(dictating) that I take it easy.. Were comfy in 24X40 heated garage. 3 days in the basement and I figure I'll be ready for concrete. We both want this rib thing to heal and heal right. Sneezing is still a challenge, throat and mouth wide open and just let her go!! No restraining. I built a 3200 heated square foot house in a year. This one is only 2400 heated. Piece of cake. Thanks for your concern though.

The date thing is not terribly flexible this year, what with the other things I have going. Coordinating house building stuff and all. Some have booked holidays/flights already.
I will have more shoots. I'd like to have 2 or 3 a year. Permanently set posts for target hanging, would make for a quick set-up. Say one in late May, another in Sept, then one in Oct. When we meet this year, we can discuss good dates. It would be cool to set up a shooting circuit, Nordegg, Stoney Lake, Burns Lake, Hinton and Peace River. Call ourselves (snazzy name here). Today I work on house!!

Here be my contribution to the targets. Some are 338 friendly but most are only 308 friendly. I will paint the 338 friendly ones yellow. The 308 ones grey.I cut some 20 inch pipe in half and made some silhouettes, by flattening them in my 50 ton press. Don't tell who lifted them into the press.
Post the targets your bringing. thanks

Ummmm.................

You're still building a house, right?

Ya part time!! Just ordering roof trusses and windows. Just did whirlwind tour to BC and back, while rib heals. Cartilage still tender on leading edge of ribs. The popping grinding thing has stopped though.
Was given a wood stove, that didn't help lugging it around!!
progress to 4th coarse
