Amazing what can happen when you take a little advice and do some testing. Today i was up at the spot shooting some steel. I got a couple pounds of H4350 and decided to run it under the 115 vld. So I cranked out 30 rds at 39 gr and 30 rds at 39.5 gr. I had several 8 inch steel disks out around the 700m mark. I took a guess at the dope and let one go. My spotter gave me a minor correction and the second rd sent the plate flying. I went on to shoot 2 more plates on consecutive shots. Wow that seems pretty good I thought. So we carried on banging away at steel for a few hours including a 3rd rd hit on a steel plate at about 700m with a nice tuned M1A dmr. That was satisfying. Anyways at the end i fired two 5 rd groups at 425m with both the 39 and 39.5 gr loads. The 39 gr load measured 2.2 inches and the 39.5 gr load measured 1.72 inches and 425m. Needless to say I'm pretty happy with that. I'm sure it would have been smaller if I had a smaller aiming mark.
I'll post a pic of the groups when I get a chance. Wonder if I can get the Dtacs to perform like that?
Oh and I did nothing to the brass. It was brand new straight out of the bag too. Bullets were pointed. Velocity on the 39gr load was between 3014-3022 and on the 39.5 load it was between 3046-3055.
