IMHO neither are wrong here.
- SFRC has a policy they do which is fine and is meant for customer safety; including the one offended. on the other hand; if i actually drive to a store to buy a gun; its usually cuz i want to handle it. that being said i wouldn't be offended either if the store was busy and I didn't get a chance to fondle it without the trigger lock
- dry fire is just wrong with or without snap caps. no it doesn't hurt most guns but it does causes wear marks. i personally wouldn't want this demo unit sold to me as a "new" gun... if you want to check the trigger, stick your thumb between the hammer and the firing pin retainer to cushion the fall.
