Another 9.3X62 bear, now with recovered bullet picture.

I was always under the impression that grizzly wasn't eaten and told Hannah the same while showing her your pics..

We have eaten grizzly meat several times, and it was always good. This one is pretty big, but got an email today from one of the folks who got some. They had some last night, and it was fine.

Norm's wife called last night, and told my wife how good the meat was. She thanked her several times for it. They had fried it with onions, and everyone enjoyed it. That's not how we usually cook it, but to each his own.

I've never tried it but I was wondering, is there much difference in flavour between that and Black Bear? Oh, and how about doing it up with a slow cooker?

Our experience is that there is little difference in the taste, Johnn, however all the grizzly we have eaten have been berry and root bears.

Slow cooker does a wonderful job! Tell Sylvia we'll treat her to some when we see you guys this winter. :)

:)I just called my better half up to the den and showed her your post. A bit of an, apprehensive look on her face, nervous laughter and the comment, "Thank you Ted". The berry feeding time of year must be fairly close to the time of feeding on the Salmon runs and if so, how much does that effect the flavour?

Look forward to your visit. Give me a shout a little ahead of that time when dates are firmed up and I'll see if I can set up another meet with some of the guys locally.
