VZ58: Optics, sights & mounts. update sept

Not to keen on the barrel clamp. Can't be good for accuracy if you hang off a chunk of steel off a barrel.

The railed front clamp is mainly for buis. The railed stock adapter with cantilever, will not line up with front handguard , cantilever sets it up higher. Hope that helps a little.

I already have the railed stock adapter and cantilever scope mount. Pretty happy with that setup but wanted to get the NEA upper handguard in order to have BUIS with my red dot. According to many replies the stock adapter and the front handguard sit on the same plane so I could mount the optic and flip up iron sight on there.

the adapter does yes but not the cantilever...

Can someone identify what type of scope this is?

Who makes that rear rail and where can I find it?

ps - thanks all for the really great info. nice to score some inside info from knowledgeable folk. My not-here-yet-but-any-day-now vz also thanks you (since duct tape is no longer an option for mounting)

I know they have the hand guards but im looking for the rail attached hand grip

The magpul AFG mounted on their hg's on the first page of this sticky? I cant seem to find an AFG1 anywhere in Canada but there is lots of AFG2s from places like One Shot Tactical and a few other site sponsors. Just browse thru the sites until you find what your looking for.

she's just about done. just looking for an ambidextrous bolt carrier and off to 3 gun:D

Being a pretty tall person, I have a rather long pull and have fully extended the adjustable stock that came standard on our new NR VZ 58 7.62. So, to get my eye as close as possible to a potential EOtech single-123-battery sight on that rifle, I'm considering using either a set-up similar to the one above or the more-typical, CSA-brand receiver-rail/side-mount set-up that sits well above the dust cover (the set-up you see in almost all CSA-produced promotional videos).

The disadvantage of the former is of course that you cannot use the OEM iron sights while the sight is mounted.

The latter will allow the use of the OEM sights, but might hold the optic farther from my eye than I'd prefer.

So which way to go.

Is anyone using the latter set-up, as illustrated in those great photos by Prometheus, but with an EOtech sight in the most-rearward position possible on the rail, and, if so, what do you think of that set-up? (If I went that way, I'd cut the upper rail to the shortest length possible to still hold the sight properly. After that, there probably wouldn't be much of the upper rail still overhanging the dust cover. I suppose I could even reverse the upper rail to get the sight exactly where I want it and then chop the extra length so that it wouldn't poke me in the eye, but that might be a bit overkill. Nevertheless, doing that would eliminate any overhang over the dust cover.)

Does that rear-mount set-up actually allow the EOtech to sit farther back (closer to the eye of a person with a long pull) than what the CSA rail/side-mount set-up would allow?

Thanks for any advice.

Hey Fellas, did I get lucky here ?? Is this pre-drilled for a side mount?

Thanks...

Im interested in this info as well. Mine has those same 2 hex bolts in it and they don't appear to do anything. Im thinking they must be for attaching a side rail but I can't find one anywhere that has holes that line up. Anyone have any info on this?

Another newbie post from a silly American here guys :)

I was wondering if anyone has any pics of their VZ58 with the NEA upper rail with an EoTech mounted. Or for that matter, pics of a Trijicon Tri-Power mounted on an NEA rail.

Also, for those of you that have a full sized aimpoint mounted on an NEA rail, does it allow for any Co-Witnessing?

Thanks guys for any info you can give!
