Is the .308 dead???

I love my .270 flat shooting and accurate enough for me
Why is the .308 better ??
Someone?

The question isn't if there is a better or flatter shooting round than the .308. If thats the issue, there are rounds that shoot flatter and hit harder than your .270. Does that make you want to sell the 270?

Anyone who thinks the .308 is dead. Meet me here in 30 years and lets have this conversation. The .308 will be alive and well.

I'll put any amount of money on it.

A BC that blows the doors off any sub 200 grain 30 cal pill, shot from a 2.8" OAL magazine at 2980 fps in a 22" pipe. If bullet strength is a concern feel free to substitute a 160 accubond.

308? Pulleeeez...

Your running down the field with the goal posts.

The question isn't are there any other calibers with better ballistics. The question as stated was "is the .308 dead".

The correct answer is no.

You're definitely correct. But the thread quickly turned into a fornication-fest about how great this little mediocre round is. So I fealt the need to bait someone out. Russel happened to open his flap and nibble on the #4 octo-beak. :D

I think the goal posts fell on him. That would be an explanation.

Kind of a lame jab, but I couldn't expect much from a man of your....attributes.

I think the .308 will be around for a very long time, just like the .30-06, the .45-70, and a long list of others. My experience is that, as has been mentioned, the .308s sell more quickly than others, which explains why they're never on the shelves. I've never understood the arguments that people seem to start about which cartridge is better than another. If it goes bang and makes a hole in something, it's beeauteeful!

not sure, but it just may be a "fact of life"! I remember that term from away back in grade school, or maybe it had something to do with ### education back then, sorry, getting old, bad memory! But, there must be a reason that I have a whole bunch of 308's and no 270's!

And I call it like I see it. You don't add anyting to CGN other than smart ass comments and constant trolling.

Gary's getten spanked, :p But, please don't paint him pink, you hafta addmitt he he adds a lot of spice to some dead threads, right? Honestly, he does! ya know, he's got a knack :stirthepot2:

Yes, and the constant disappearance of Lapua virgin brass & the shortage of Varget & R15 powder is telling enough IMO.

With guns I like 30 cal.

With women I like blondes.

With sheep I like Dorsets.

What I do with each of those is personal preference, speaking of ### ed.
