1)Swiss Arms if money is no issue and you can get the NEA lower ($400-500)to shoot AR mags, I also read somewhere that SA is now making lowers for AR mags.
2) XCR-L, great versatility and several conversion kits, can use LAR 10rd mags out of the box
3) Tavor, same level as the XCR-L but more expensive and no conversion kit' avail
4) NORINCO M14

The XCR-L isn't at the same level as the Tavor. The Tavor is based off a 21st century battle rifle. The XCR-L is a consumer grade product with great features.

If caliber changes are important to you then I could see choosing the XCR othtwise my choice hands down would be the Tavor over the XCR.
 
I own pretty much every rifle that has been discussed but the fs2000, and IMHO the Tavor is the best of them all, overall. Not the most accurate, no, but the limiting factor there is me, not the gun... so much for being elite! :)

I would also echo these sentiments and add that the Tavor is noticeably lighter, shorter and completely ambidextrous as well (with the LH bolt). Further, in terms of price - there's only maybe $100 difference (if that).
 
Yeah the TAVOR seems like the best all round option in many regards,personally I would go with the Swiss myself though but the price of the rifle comes in as a ripoff for what you are getting...I wouldn't bother with NEA lower for it just to use AR mags the Swiss mags are fine..

I'm not entirely sure what the appeal of the Swiss Arms is. For starters, it's going to run you about $700 more than a Tavor - and that's before you add the low profile rail just so you can mount an optic (so +$850). It's easily 2-3lbs heavier and unless you're happy running the more expensive, 5-round proprietary magazines - you're going to be shelling out another $700 or so for an NEA lower (which you'll also need to Cerakote to match the rest of the rifle).

No argument there. But while not necessarily a "tack driver", the Tavor is still fairly decent in terms of accuracy - and certainly more accurate than what I'm capable with it. ;)
 
Agreed on the Tavor but the fact is we are consumers and the XCR-L can be easily converted into a Hunting platform in less than two minutes. 6.8SPC and 7.62x39 or buy big brother XCR-M .308 and other calibers to follow.

I am comparing both all around with their out of the box features and capabilities.
IMO for the cost etc...they are about equal for the Canadian civilian market.

Now as for the Isreali's and being a 21st battle tested warfare platform then yes for the Tavor! This is only my personal opinion as others will disagree and have their preferences.

I think what would be really cool if we could get a few GunNutz together and do a review test video with all of these platforms we are discussing and suggesting. Come up with testing points and see how they all compare against each other!

The really interesting questions to ask are: if someone came out with a 6.8 SPC kit for the Tavor, a) would you even be able to find a Tavor ever again and b) how many XCR-L's would flood the EE. ;)

I would not get rid of my XCR, I love her, she has not failed me once in all weather conditions. I want them all, which does my wallet injustice.:)
