My club which is for profit I believe, is I believe the largest around with I believe 2000 members, which has actually had to cap membership recently not allowing new members till the new year. Not sure if that is CFO or club ownership standards. None of these regulations are for profit, and it is proven by their decision to close the membership.
If you want to hear even more BS, we have just recently had to impose a range orientation/rules course before allowing access to the action/run and gun range because too many idiots were not following rules, and shooting up club property or doing dumb s**t with guns. Again I am not sure if this was CFO or Owner imposed, but knowing the owners pretty well this kind of policy does not come on a whim, or for no reason. There is alot of asshat "new shooters" who do not take anything seriously and lack respect for the club and it's membership.
Personally I don't disagree with the probationary shoots. There is more than a few members I have seen who shouldn't be there and if they can be filtered out then I am all for it.
And that is not to be taken as I don't want new shooters! i just want responsible ones who take it seriously and don't f**k it up for everyone else!
One thing my club deals with which many don't is the walk in guest passes, and this creates alot of issues IMHO. These are the people with no vested interest in the club, and many take full advantage of that fact. This is why I am rarely out on the weekends, and during hunting season especially!
