Ed,
Any update on the number of entries so far and the minimum required to hold the match?

EC,

16 entries total as of today ,last year at same point in time prior to shoot 53
As for minimum number required - relative to type of match held !!!
At THIS point a Provincial championship is not going to happen.(credibility of match will suffer if competitors V competion doesn't reflect a distinct level of difficulty - in that 2 people in one class does not a match make - beat one competitor and you win your class ? NOPE not while I am director,we have worked to long and hard to reserect this event and won't belittle the Match's significance by "watering" the event down , that obviously would not be respectful to previous match winners or the spirit of the match itself. )

Once I have reached the cutoff date Aug 7 I will consider the possibilities based on entries recieved ,and consult with the BCRA executive in order to decide the best use of the range time available to us ,as well as resources required to hold an event . If we do not have the required numbers for a provincial championship
We might have the numbers for a "club"style Match or load development -zero evaluation or " training / coaching style of event , I have an open mind but cold hard entries will dictate style or type of shooting we do ..... If any !!!

Ed,
Thanks for the reply. I fully understand what you are saying with respect to the integrity of the competition. I am planning to shoot this year. The two previous occasions were the highlight of the year. I hope enough entries are received as in previous years as this is definitely a 1st class event and a watered down match or even worse none at all would be a disappointment for sure.

Hello,

Ok folks as of this mornings mail call and dead line date, we have a grand total of...... 19 confirmed entries .....sigh ....so as far as I can see the provincial championship is NOT going to happen !!! I will confer with BCRA council and come up with an alternate shoot to utilize the allotted range days. ( maybe the course of fire still shot but in a casual manner )
Dunno at this point ....... Stand by for further news .

Just got an email saying the will be target and f class training days one this weekend now however any tac rifle and other shooters are welcome to attend and can shoot either F or tac type targets. Looks like Saturday will consist of 2 strings at 300 and one at 600 and the Sunday will be 2 at 400 and one at 600.
Email Dave Adams at wdadams@TELUS.net if your interested so they can get an idea of how many are coming. Cost is $20/day or $35 for both.

Great chance to get some shooting in at medium distances on the prettiest range in Canada.

Well that sucks that the match isn't going ahead. I wonder if the the fact that it was four days including zeroing and the extended rd ct vs the three day, zero day and two day match. I shot it in 2010 and there was some gripes that year. Also for guys travelling from out of province, from a logistics standpoint it makes it more difficult, especially booking time off from work.

I think it was more to do with it falling over the last long weekend of summer than anything else. Sure sucks that it was cancelled though as I was really looking forward to this event more than any other.

Hello all,

As longshot has already posted the majority of the BCRA Membership email out ,nothing furher needs to be Said re dates and ranges being shot, however I would like to encourage those new shooters or any shooters that are interested in rifle shooting to take the opurtunity to come by and shoot, the Tac course of fire is simply a practice session so No matcH pressure or stress ,bring out what you have and let's shoot . If anyone wants to attend / shoot but does not have a rifle feel free to contact me,and I will be happy to arrange one (purchase of factory match ammo required ) also anyone attending that is not a member of the BCRA will have to purchase an interm membership to cover insurance
Coverage (mandatory for CF range )

There are some who gripe every year. We handed out a questionnaire at the end of the match last year. The majority said that a 3 day match (plus sight in) and a higher round count were preferred.

What is the shooting plan for this weekend then.

Same published match COF (but not under match conditions), or just an open ended range time?
