And....I'm no longer a member of ISPC BC in good standing

Redleafjumper, I am humbled by your words, thank you very much. I will continue to do my best promoting the shooting sports in Canada any way I can. this situation sucks.

Rob, I am disappointed and feel left out. I didn't get free ice cream when I was DQ'd in Kelowna. I think a gift certificate from Dairy Queen should be presented to all person's DQ'd at a match :D.

I'll stop shooting IPSC when I stop having fun and so far I'm still having fun. It's a hobby, a game for me. Some IPSC members need to lighten up a little, IMHO.

stonehorse, I am a supporter of Rob's... not a member of IPSC as of yet since could not make the last local black badge course, but shoot me your snail mail address via PM and I will send you a DQ certificate for $10 so you don't feel left out (that should get you a large blizzard) ;) ;)

Wow, what a thread ... Rob, my best wishes for your Mom, prayers & strength for her & the whole family, as you go thru these difficult times.
Definitely, she'll be in our Church Prayer brigade list for support.

Some of us (if not most of us here) know that Rob is a good person, very supportive of the shooting sport, and like a few CGN'ers have mentioned, has given way more to his fellow-shooters than anybody I know. He's excelled in the sport and pays it forward by helping new (and lame shooters like me) learn and improve. Even if he did something that the Board thinks was out-of-line, they should have definitely given him the 'benefit-of-the-doubt' factor and all the +++ points he's earned by being a 'helpful' fellow shooter.

Rob, best of luck with your misunderstanding here with IPSC BC and if there's anything I can do to help, like a 'letter attesting to your being a valuable fellow shooter to IPSC and other shooting-related sports groups', let me know asap.

This has been said before but let me just pose the same old question "Can't we just all get along???"

I think everyone is missing a very important fact as a result of all of this.

Productions shooters just moved up one spot in the national rankings!!!

Now if I can only get some dirt on the rest of the people ahead of me.......
:)

Rob, I'm sure when people get their heads out of their asses this will all be resolved, but in the mean time, can a USPSA membership get you into Level 2+ matches?
Local and international?

Well, since you don't want to deal with the stool pigeon, I think you should at least stroll into the Star Chamber and give them a dose of their own medicine.

They stink!

BTW, do they still hand out those "I Shoot Hostages" pins?

Those DQ gift cards are no different in my opinion.

I think anyone who would be offended to receive one, or offended that someone who had been DQ'd received one, takes themselves too seriously and has no place in the sport anyway.

As for the Star Chamber....

BTW, those damn new smilies are still there, and are still annoying as hell.

You have the POWER to make it right.

Cheers!

Best wishes for your Mom too.

Why would they do this. It looks like they went full retard to me. Or there is more to the story that I am not aware of. From what I guess the root issue being it would just make the IPSC BoD look worse.

Even if the complaint was legitimate (which from the info I have at this point it is not) it should have been handled in a much better way.

I am not an IPSC shooter, but I have sent as many people as I could to Rob. IPSC just shot themselves in the foot.

No, it cannot. You must be a member in your home region. There may even be issues if you are a member of IPSC Canada, but not in your home province ie, you can't even just join another Section, but I'm not 100% sure of this.

well thats the most stupid thing ive seen done in the shooting sports in the 20+ yers ive been shooting.
Being british i know all about uptight by the book *******s, but this is a stupid witch hunt, this is not the olimpics and its not combat, ****!!
This is a fun sport.
A simple, dude some people dont find that funny, dont do it again would have been enough.
And to think i was going to get back into IPSC.....

Quoted for truth. Had they done that, none of this would have happened.

Please don't use this as an excuse to not shoot IPSC, it is still a great sport, with tons of great people. This particular series of incidents represents a very small portion of what can and does happen at a match.
Also, please don't attack the BC member or his dad, I responded with a lawyer to the first letter so it is obvious that they would respond in kind. The fact he's the BC members dad is coincidental, he's also our lower mainland zone report. He's just doing his job in replying.
The issue, for me, is the process used, which followed no proper protocol, was heavy handed, and quite honestly bull#### from the start. If the rules book applies to dinners it applies to everyone, not just one person. Further if it applies, then follow the process laid out in it. Pretty simple really.
I don't think everyone is understanding how big of an issue it is to say the rule book applies at dinners and awards, after a match is over. This has far reaching implications outside of my issue.

Have a read, by IPSC BC's constitution, Roberts Rules of Order are used for our affairs. According to the above, certainly procedures are required for member expulsion or discipline, and guess what? They weren't followed. Surprise. So even if they changed their mind and say the Rule Book isn't what they are basing their disciplinary action on, and instead decide that they meant our Constitution is what they are basing it on, they still haven't followed the rules.

It probably dos'nt matter that you can prove them wrong. The damage has been done. I can not understand what they are doing. It is certainly not what I would want my BOD to be doing. I posted an enquiry on the BCIPSC website asking an executive to clarify why you were expelled. Not surprisingly there is no answer.

Rob,

This really sucks. It also seems that it was not handled according to the rules IPSC BC.

I guess there is no recourse or higher power that you can appeal to?

It seems to me to be a pretty heavy handed approach to the issue that you presented here.

I hope that all things can be worked out. I would have a very hard time if I was unable to compete and sincerly wish that you wll be able to compete again soon.

I posted on your thread there as well.

I think it would be a good idea for all of us IPSC BC members to post on that thread to ensude the BoD is made very clear we are not happy with their conduct in this case.
