bad deals on milsuerp parts on ebay

Are those drywall screws?

I think so. But I won't be playing with it. I don't want him to say I messed with anything when I send it back.

Christ..sorry to see this, but thank you....I've been looking for SMLE wood myself and it helps to avoid the jackasses...On a side note,..I have bought stuff on flebay from the Ukraine to mainland China,..and the only bad scams I have had the misfortune to deal with have all been from the U.S.,....hmmmmm

I would almost agree, except to say that I have had some shady ones from Canada as well. There seems to be some kind of "buyer beware: buyer is responsible" onus placed on purchasers which the sellers feel negates their responsibilities to be honest in exchange for a quick buck. Even when a question is asked directly about certain aspects of an item, and the answer turns out to be false, the sellers seem to just be able to claim ignorance, or accuse you of buyer's remorse.

Response to the dispute claim through (FRAUD ALERT) ""That stock had no cracks. That was a very nice looking stock, you are just a person looking for trouble. Send it back in the same condition, then I will refund, not until then"

This guy is off his ass!

Sounds like you are going to soon be out the stock set and your cash. Best bet is to send it by registered mail, then once it is received, if she does not refund, then call your credit card company and get them to refund the transaction. (FRAUD ALERT) will threaten to cut you off if you reverse a CC transaction, but in reality they rarely do if it's a one off.

Unfortunately it didn't go through my credit card. I had just verified my account so I could start selling on there.

I'm going to tell them that if they refund my money I will send it back with tracking info within 24 hours and see how that goes...

If (FRAUD ALERT) threatens to cut you off they are in violation of credit card regulations. They can jump up and down all they want, that is exactly why payments through (FRAUD ALERT) for anything need to be funded by plastic, you have that extra layer of protection from (FRAUD ALERT) themselves if something goes sour.

Escalate it to a claim. (FRAUD ALERT) almost always side with the buyer

Do it quickly, don't wait. (FRAUD ALERT) only gives you 45 days I think then you are SOL for making a claim. As for Joanesbarnsales, NO seller feedback and only 13 buyers, bad deal! Unless they are actually selling the parts as listed this time.
As for feedback, always leave specific details what was wrong so future bidders may have an idea why it is negative. "Bait and switch" is a pretty good part to add to the feedback.

Yes I missed the boat on that when I left feedback.

Its gone to claims now. He refused to give me a refund so now his paytpal account is frozen. He has sent me numerous messages on ebay today. I could post what he said if you guys want to see. He admitted to not sending the stuff I bought but insists if I send the junk back he'll send me the one I believed I was buying (yeah right I'd rather eat my losses n get this guy banned so no one else gets burnt).

Thanks a bunch for the help guys. Nice to know CGN really is like one big family!

I knew I was paying too much, but I felt that if the woodset was really nice and the other parts included were worth selling that I could have recovered enough to justify the purchase. I offered him $300 plus actual shipping cost on it, and he accepted. That and I felt the rifle I am restoring is worth it, I plan on keeping it as my shooter No1 so the price would not have bothered me had this been a legitimate purchase.

There's a lot of guys (including me) looking for good wood sets for the No1 and a lot of us could have bought this set, so don't feel too bad about the choice you made. Obviously seems like the guys a crook, but you've had some sound advice.
Don't like hearing about anyone getting ripped off, especially when your trying to make a nice rifle even better..I'll be avoiding these Ebay sellers for sure.
Good luck with (FRAUD ALERT) etc..

I'd be very surprised if (FRAUD ALERT) did anything useful. I was ripped of by a company that folded up and disappeared, years ago. (FRAUD ALERT) opened a dispute, and that was the end of it. No word from the other party to dispute my story, and nowhere for them to go to chase the money. Useless.

The seller already responded so that's a start anyway. He's let it go to claims by denying my dispute. Worst comes to worst it's now my goal to get him removed from ebay. Call it my $400 donation to helping other milsurp enthusiasts.

That is what happens when the company folds, and has emptied it's account. But it's a different story when the account is still active and there are funds in it. In that case, (FRAUD ALERT) is more than happy to freeze the account's assets for as long as it takes to settle the matter, and then some. They have multi millions tied up this way at any given time, earning them interest or dividends. And if the seller did not see this coming, and has significant funds in his account, he will be more likely to make it right and get his account unlocked.

Save your email correspondence from him where he admitted not sending you the one shown, and give that to ebay/(FRAUD ALERT). No point taking the loss, you won't accomplish anything. He/she already have a second account, and it's too easy to set up another one, using a new credit card and a new account number.

Ok guys update. Its gone to claims but I'm unsure of what comes next. He's been allowed to submit a statement but I have not, nor have I been allowed to submit photos or email correspondence etc. Really hope they let me because its pretty cut and dry if they do.

Here's the messages he has sent me on ebay:

You send the stock back, then you get a refund, that stock had no cracks, at all. The butt stocks was for a #1 mk 3, and that was part of the set. Let me know what you want to do.

Then:

You drop the claim and I will change it out. You have a hold on my pay pal account, and until you drop that, there is nothing I can do. That was a nice set you received. You just wanted your ship
rate back to get even, now you have the ball, send the stock back for exchnage. I will quit ebay before you will ever see a refund. Or i can give you the parts thast you say were missing.

Then:
You have already filed a claimn and they have a hold on my account because of youo. As I said send it back for the set in the picture, if you think I am just am going
to give you a refund without getting the seet back you are wrong. No set, then no replacement set. And that sling was in there for sure.

Then:

Regarding pay pal, I escalated this to let them handle the problem, I cannot and will not refund any money. My offer still stands however, that if you
send the set back, I will replace for the exact one in the picture. I will quit ebay if I have to give you a refund.

Can anyone who has been through this give me confirmation that things are dealt with fairly and that I will be allowed to submit the photos of what I received? I also reported both listings as fraudulent on ebay now that I figured out how to.
