Rossi Ranch Hand full-size stock G/B ~ UPDATE - Feb 15/2013

You all act so surprised. Did you honestly expect a quality product after all the bs you were fed about why it was taking so long?

Id guess that anyone that was in on the buy was hoping for the best. In a way another ending to this story could have been that the guy was OCD on quality control and just refused to release anything less then perfection.

Unfortunately this guy is full of it and I don't mean talent!

does a set need to be sacrificed to make replacements? Sorry if I missed this in an earlier post.

I guess so... I didn't know that was the case untill some time (a month or 2) after I got the 1 & only set of pics from him.

I didn't even clue in that my originals were not coming back... They're clearly not re-useable in the pics he sent.

And incase nobody noticed, he scratched the sh!t out of my gun. And the stocks were finished with the reciever attached (laquer is on the gun too).

I honestly have a feeling he may have fired it also. I only put 20rds (1/2 a box in 1 session, then cleaned thoroughly) thru it before I sent it off to him. The bore & chamber are filthy.

* and I just lost my appetite from thinking about this...

I bought 2 butt stocks from this place h*t*t*p://www.precisiongunstocks.com/contents/en-us/d70.html. They come shrink wrapped, well inletted, but they do require a fair bit of fitting, it's relatively simple dremel work. All dimensions are over size so it's easier to remove wood than add. The exterior is quite rough with fairly deep cutter marks. The wood is plain walnut but no knots or flaws. They are fitted for a factory style metal butt plate...maybe a group could request a batch with a recoil pad/straight cut, might even reduce the cost.
Regarding the taper cut on the inside of the fore-ends (mag tube to barrel fit)...all rossis/92s have this (I have a octagon barrel 45 colt '92, a 44 mag browning version as well as the ranch hand in 45)...have a look at how the round barrels are relieved so the mag tube can be installed...no other way to do it.
From the fit of these stocks (PGS) and the comments on Canadian sales on their web site, it's quite possible this company will do a run in laminate as well, can't hurt to ask.

I had regretted not going in on this.

Now I don't.

That's some hack work for a 'professional'. I hope you guys can get your money back.

BIG-ASS UPDATE!
I just got off the phone with Rich, and here's the scoop on the stock screw-ups.
Rich has been fighting an infection since January and has been relying on a fellow he trained up
to do the sanding & shipping out of the stocks. He had no idea about all the complaints posted
on CGN. He told me that he's gonna get ahold of the sanding guy and "kick some nuts".
We had a good long talk, and I felt he was being honest in what he said.

He even admitted that he's had arguments with his sanding guy. The sanding boob is using
a belt sander to finish the wood! This would easily explain the removal of too much material
and lop-sided for ends. Talk about Tim Taylor! A frickin' belt sander!

Rich asked how Boomer 74's gun turned out and I filled him in on the gory details, as well as
all the other complaints in this thread. Rich has no access to post on CGN at the moment
and thanked me for the heads up about this mess. He is genuinely concerned about this
and is going to get ahold of a friend's computer with CGN access to check out all the
complaints. He also mentioned that the sanding guy is gonna catch sh*t bigtime
and maybe get replaced. I sure hope so!

Rich is now going to personally check each stock set to ensure they are up to snuff,
and we can only hope this situation improves. For the sake of his buisness, it has to.

He wants to talk with me on Monday to give an update on the situation, which I
shall do. At least we know who to lay most of the blame on for this mess, but
Rich has to share blame as well for not keeping a hands on approach on his
contractor/employee.

I have some PRIME property for sale in Florida... interested?

More bullsh!t excuses... He admitted to me that he had to fix the plastic buttplate on mine, and that HE shipped my gun back.

So he knew exactly what shape my gun was in before he sent it back.

And "been sick since January" ? WHAT THE FVCK WAS HE DOING FOR THE 4 MONTHS BEFORE JANUARY, WHILE HE HAD MY GUN...?

He's a fcukin liar... And a terrible one at that.

Tell me he didn't know about this...?

(I'm not directing ANY hostility towards you, ShellShucker)

Washers glued/bonded to the tang area...? Really..?

And the 2nd pic, it's all chewed-up (a hole) underneath the washer. I could break it free very easily.

He must have added the washers after he realized it wouldn't pass as being "acceptable"...

This is in NO WAY a "copy" of my ranch hand factory stock/inletting... Fantastic "stock-copying machine" he has there.

It's a perverse joke.
Reeks of scam, except he would have had to buy that laminate wood.

This is near the top of the charts in terms of mass-screwings for sure.

Good god, I can only imagine the look on your face when you opened the box to see that monstrosity.

....and I thought my dinged cylinder was bad.

Holy crap! This is gettin' worse by the moment. I ain't waitin' to talk with Rich on Monday,
tomorrow I'll be having a more frank discusion with him to get a grasp on this abortion
of a stock order. Sh*t like this must not be allowed to continue, and I'll definitely be
cancelling my order, and demanding refund.

I'm gettin' much more pissed about this whole frickin' mess! If it turns out that Rich is
being screwed from behind by his helper (As has happened so many times before to other
small & large companies), then he's gonna have to man-up and start compensating
customers who recieved sub standard products.

I have to agree with Boomer74 on this one. The smell of poo is in the air and it is gettin thicker
by the minute.

Other than I pulled the front stock off, it's worse that Klauss's...

Literally a 1/2" gap from front to back, AND he drilled into my barrel & mag-tube more than Rossi already had.

Didn't take pics off it, this is so far gone now I can't bother to get more angry.

And the crack in the fore-stock is about 2.5" long, after I inspected it from the inside. Someone tried to glue it to keep it from splitting more.
