I tried at 300 also but the wind kept blowing my target down:mad: was unsuccessful, will try again later.

This 100m 10 shot group could have been outstanding but I tanked it, crap!!!!! ( 79 points due to flyer).

I went out in late February and shot a group at 200m with my no4 enfield, but the group was awful, I'm comfortable blaming the -20C temperatures. Please keep this contest going long enough to give us poor guys in the north a shot. I still have a couple feet of snow in the yard...

Way to go guys! Will give this a good read and post the scores, I made it out tonight too for 200 yards, scoring 66 with my Springfield M1A/M14, all USGI parts. And before anyone gets worried, that's our road, and it's just been decommissioned for the summer around the corner, and I drove to the end to clear the whole road first. ;) Target's there but even I can barely see it knowing where to look, just below the crest of the opposite hill, in front of the bank. If I add some elevation next time will improve the score some I figure.

I may have been motivated to take on 200 yards first... ;)

I'm shooting at 59 degrees north myself, all good no rush. :) It's supposed to be fun afterall!

PS, on my 200 yard target I notice two distinct groups, the low left shot I knew I pulled soon as the sear broke, but I shot 6 rounds (5+1 chambered) first, then loaded 4 rounds and finished, something changed in my rest or hold in between it looks like.

Great shooting J996 and beautiful rifle! You've taken the lead in 100 yards.

Thanks Ardent. Is it supposed to be in yards? If so I will get to move a wee bit closer next time out. I lased 100 meters from muzzle to target lol.

First off muzzle flash- wow! Not only some very interesting guns, and interesting seeing how they perform for the same (very good) shooter, but the .43 Mauser coming out is something else! Too neat to have that on the scoreboard. And excellent work with the MAS 36/51 I'm very impressed. That will be very hard to beat, you passed 2010's best scores for the 100 yard and set the record on that one, previously the best was a tie at 100-95 if memory serves.

muzzle flash, I just can't tell if that top .43 Mauser round landed more inside the 9 ring than the 8, if it can't be clearly discerned the lower value is scored, she landed just a little more into 9 territory than 8 I presume? From my screen I can't call it. And for the No.4 Mk2 Target #2, same for the bull/10 ring shot, able to help us decide if it's just over the line into the bull visibly more than on the line evenly? This one to me does look to be a bull as well, I just can't say 100% yet. Seems like nit picking but as we go this will be very important as the first match ended in a tie for first for instance! I'll tentatively score the lower rings as per the rules, and if we can get close ups of the left hand target hits in question (.43 Mauser target #2 top hole, and No.4 Mk2 100 yard target #2 bull/10 ring hole) we'll adjust from there.

And you nearly took over both the 100, AND 200! I got away, for now, by a single point.

the Mass 36/51 loads were 38g. H4895 with a 155g Amax bullet. This gun printed well from the first time out but a foot high and a foot to the right. Stoned the sear and replaced the rusted trigger spring. I had to replace the front sight and get the file out to get a 100 meter zero. It actually will shoot tighter than my K31 if i do my part.
The .43 mauser is one of many of the cutdown buggered rifles out there that I rescued from a junk pile. Firing pin was rusted solid in the bolt, sear broken, trigger spring missing, stock cracked etc. but it did have a pit free bore. Sandblasted the metal, tigged the sear, replaced the spring, made a new front sight and parked the metal. paid $25.00 for the gun and put $40.00 into it to get it shooting condition. Brass is hard to find but ANDY helped me out there bought a .43 mauser RCBS bullet mold and it now is shooting again although is a inconstant shooter. Somehow I had a piece of berdan primed brass sneek into my .43 mauser brass collection that i did not notice which I seated a boxer primer into. The primer blew out showering me with burnt powder when fired "glad for saftey glasses" The top hole on target #2 for the 43 Mauser is definitely borderline but looks to be in the 9 to me. Enfield MK.4 target #2 is in the bull.
Next outing the 577/450 martini, Garand at 200 and 91/30 sniper at 300.
Damn teeny targets!

Well done, thanks for the background info, and great job saving the .43. Budget Shooter Supply / Henry can also get the starline .43 brass if you're ever in need again. Appreciate the close ups!

Absolutely agree on the .43 target, I'll update the score, will do the .303 bull/10 zoom and measure next. .43, clearly over the line:

Now this one will be tougher, No.4 Mk2 bull/10:
