Plus I never liked the charging handle under the carry handle (like the type 97) and not a fan of the tavor charging handle.

...What? Where is it supposed to go then?

..to me the gun looks to busy to long and to heavy for a bullpup... if it would be reliable, accurate, non restricted

It is very similar in overall length and weight to the Tavor. I think the aesthetics just make it look longer. And when was the last time you saw a bullpup with an adjustable length of pull?

From what I've read, it's solidly 2MOA, So I'm sold there. With a 19.6" barrel it should be non-restricted. The real questions are one of reliability and quality. How's the trigger? Is that rail a reliable place to mount optics? Etc.

Please, let's keep in mind that Vhs is a military rifle, not some fancy item intended for american/canadian shooting ranges.
So tons of rails (that can be removed anyway) and such a sure position of charging handle are effectively a big plus for the intended user.
Lenght of Vhs-d barrel is 500mm, so almost identical of m-16 one, only in metric standard.
About supposed wasted space, it only an impression: just look a direct comparison

To me, not everybody, but to me, it should be on the side like the rfb.

Couple things I noticed that really makes me "iffy" about this rifle. Carry handles are cool, some people like them, I get it - but it isn't the 1990's anymore. Why not just a monolithic rail? Two reasons, with a carry handle, you'll need to find the right scope/red dot that has a lot of room for elevation. Second problem is the check weld. (Yes, I seen the location of the charging handle.) There is just so much wasted room.

Another thing to note: it's 2013, and they are using non encapsulating pins, c'mon! You'll have to buy an adaptor to use AR mags, that a plus, just as much as it's a negative. That safety looks awful to use, but I imagine they will address this stuff with the Canadian sample though.

Some things I see that I like, It looks fairly ergonomic, and it has an ( I would hope ) ambi charging handle similar to the G36. Speaking of G36, are those "clips" G36 mags? I wouldn't say "I'm out" on this yet, i'll reserve final judgment when I see the Canadian sample.

After all, when I seen the Tavor Canam posted way back when, I didn't like a lot of things, not to say the Tavor is perfect... far from it. We'll see when the VDS gets here, I just don't have a VCR anymore. :|

Looks like there a LOT of screws holding that gun together. Like along the top of the action/bolt area, I guess they must own shares in Loctite like rob arms does.
