The new Magwedge rail:

Any mount that has to be removed or requires a tool in order to take rifle apart for cleaning is:
Pain in a butt and can not hold zero. Give or take.

Anything that can be mounted permanently, and made of real stuff = steel.
Gotta be able to keep and use my iron sights.

A quick question about chote mount, is there a reason it has to be mounted 1 1/2" from back of the receiver?? Other than eye relief of course. I would like to mount it as far back as possible so I can use stripper clips with my cheapo bushnell banner 1-4 scope. If you can direct me to a smaller objective scope(which i can mount little further back)that will be appreciated too. Pls recommend scope under the price of the rifle.

I think the 1 1/2 " forward position is
necessary for receiver cover/bolt carrier
removal.
I use the Tasco 2.5x20 shotgun scope(7.25" long)
and the Simmons 1.5x5-20 (9.25" long). I used the
Weaver converta mount

I have tried clamping the mount and removing the bolt and it comes out easy. I was just wondering if it had something to do with strength of receiver etc. BTW how's Simmons working for you, I'm looking for something similar.

I just added a Predator drill and tap mount to my bubba sks. I had it to the range and test it out and had great results. The built in shell deflector worked great. I just had a red rot to try it out with, but I'm curious to try a full size scope. Here are a few pics....

100 yards red dot:

I had a red dot on the front gas tube rail on my tapco stock but it moves way too much. took that off and just ordered a tech sight hopefully will have better results. id like to run my red dot but I think a peep sight will be much more realiable. anyone else running the tech sight have any issues?

Pain in the butt for cleaning when shooting corrosive ammo.
Why didn't you save your money and get a bc tac scout mount?

because I want iron sights/peep sights. I was under the impression the tech sight just unbolted, they claim it retains zero when removed/installed.

Predator mount looks realy nice. Where did you buy it?

I just googled sks predator mount and went from there. It was pricey, but it had everything I was looking for in a mount. 1. Couldn't lose zero after cleaning 2. Be able to mount full size scope or red dots 3. Be able to use iron sights
The downside of this mount is that you're limited to magazines, as stripper clips are not an option. The built in shell reflector is a bonus.
