NEW ITEM: Dominion Arms Socom 18

I just did the last clinic that Hungry did what a blast the muzzle break is easy to get off we did about 5 at the clinic you will need the following
A big hammer
Cold chisel
Vise
castle nut plyers
Put the action in the vise loosen the castle nut and start to hit the muzzle break under the front site as you hit it every few times keep lossening the castle nut until the weld breaks .
Then screw off the break
Most of the ones at the clinic came off with about a dozen or so hit some a lot less and only one broke .
Good luck

The problem is getting mine off in the first place.

I had one of the 3 very hard to take off, even scratch it off, but at the end i took a piece of strong leather, took huge Vise-grip (13 inch) and with a rubber mallet, hit on the visegrip and it finally cave in, try the leather it is better than a rag for grip... JP.

Placed my order on the 7th, and just got my shipping confirmation, I look forward to posting pics soon. Also if anyone know of a good gunsmith for the m14 in the gta, please let me know. Also if anyone is doing an m14 clinic in or near the gta, thanks.

Please...

Just broke the strap on my strap wrench trying to get it off. Any other ideas?

I couldn't find My strap wrench so I clamped the barrel to my workbench and grabbed one of those black flat rubber bungie cords and placed that around the hider then I took a pair of 10" water pump adjustable pliers and placed them over the bungie.
the rubber strap gripped into the little holes on the hider pretty well and with a strong grip i was able to get it to budge.

I was surprised that it wasn't a matter of "cracking" it loose, my threads were tight almost all the way so I had to rinse/repeat the grip/turn all the way off.
99 cent bungie is toast now but the gun looks much better

good luck

All 3 were proprely indexed, did change all 3 op spring guide for the SA NM ones, that all il'l do to them, just adjust the sights and shoot away, next Sunday 2 of my older grandsons will start their M-14 shooting, one is 13, one is 14... Looking forward to see their face when they do... JP.

you order 3 and get good indexing ....I order 1 and I have to tilt the rifle to the right in order to see the front sight....:(

That would work for the traditional M305's, but not for the Dominion Arms SOCOM's being discussed here.

My first venture into the M14 style and other than a Grizzly shotgun my only Norinco's. Caught up in the hype and liked the setup so ordered two. I have none of the indexing issues or problems with the flash hider experienced by others.

Took one apart and cleaned with varsol to get rid of the oil coating. Have read of various cleaners used but rubber gloves and a tooth brush along with several rags made quick work of cleaning up the rifle.

Impressed with the quality for the dollar value.

Had a bit of time at the range prior to going to shoot Sporting Clays. Have to play with the sights a bit more but for 100 yards with the standard peep sights and my aging eyes I'm happy. Ammo is IVI / 69

Shot the bottom group prone with center mass hold and top group was from a bench on a sandbag holding on head of silhouette.

I reversed all 3 to the shortest, they served no purpose, but i think this got to be the best look i saw for a M-14... JP.

Go shoot your rifle in low light and tell me that FH served no purpose , good luck seeing your iron sights for quick follow up shots with that giant fireball coming out the muzzle.. I shot mine in low light and found the socom FH did a very very good job at killing the fireball, seemed to kill a bit of recoil too? , much better than a standard USGI type .. With it reversed the flame was sure cool looking but it was harder to keep it on target :)
