CZ 958 "Teaser!"

Looking at the GIF that Botts did, it looks awesome! I don't care if it comes with the beaver barf or not. I would be putting an aftermarket stock and grip on it anyways. This thing is going to look beautiful! And at $1,000 I am happy to say I can actually afford one! I keep seeing all these cool new toys coming into the country and I know I will never have the money for them. This one though... I will make sure I have $1,000 in the bank waiting for the day they land in Canada. That is within my budget!

Thanks Wolverine!!!

These are sounding good. Put me down for at least one. Being able to properly mount a magnified optics is the deal maker for me and my aging eyes, that is for certain.

Chrome lined barrels are good for sustained fire situation, such as in battle, when 100's to 1000's of rounds are going to be fired in succession. They are mostly only useful on fully auto guns. We dont even have 10 round mags for these things :D Chrome lined or not, you clean your rifle all the same or suffer the same consequences. Remember, for them to put chrome on the bore, the bore itself needs to be slightly bigger then it should be to make room for the process.

All in all, I dont hate on people for wanting chrome lined barrels, it's all a matter of preference, but for what reason do you want it? In our situation, all it REALLY does, is make it slightly easier to push a bore brush through, that's about all. The #### from those primers get everywhere, and the bore is pretty much the only spot on the rifle that is easiest to clean. Chrome lining offers such minimal protection from the corrosive ammo, its true use is to combat extreme heat , unless you are TRYING to get your rifle that hot, you wont do it.

^^^ This.

I don't care about a chrome barrel. I've seen pics on CGN of an SKS or something that wasn't cleaned after shooting surplus and it was a sad sight. The barrel is only one part - all the other areas are at risk too.

Quit trying to use common sense on CGN or you will get an infraction!!!!!!!! hahaha

I am pretty excited about all the Yes' that Wolverine is posting. I really liked my 858 but this 958 almost sounds too good to be true. A second hunting friendly caliber would be nice but that is counting my chickens before.....you know how that ends.

Reminds me of the SA 58 MS

Yup. That would be amazing to have built in.

My ideal use case for this is to replace the DDM4 I planned on buying. As such, I would like half decent somewhat affordable ammo, which is available for .223, but not currently 7.62x39. If I could get good 7.62x39 I'd jump all over this updated 858.

Finally, I think we can rule out this rifle being a semi-auto 805. Here's a quick GIF I whipped up. It's not perfect, but it's damn close.

That said, I'd pay up to $2,500 for a semi-auto non-restricted 805 Bren.

Hopefully these are available with straight line AR lower receiver extension adapters from day one. Getting a cheek weld on a rail mounted optic with the traditional drop of an 858 stock might be a chore.

How boy would either of these be pretty effing slick.

where's the charging handle on that thing? the angle of the "cover" (should I say bolt carrier) inside the ejection port just looks like a railed receiver cover that extends to the gas block was slapped onto a 58/858. The takedown pin is in the same location. even the front one for the upper hand guard is clearly visible.

Oh man... Im gonna have to grab one of these in the canadian hardwood version. Too cool to resist.

Yeah I missed the boat on that one unfortunately, so if I could get the Canadian edition, on top of our already Canadian exclusive rifle (pretty sure it will be), I'd be a happy man.
Now we need someone to develop a gun designed around Canadian needs. :D

A Canadians needs, that is like asking how long a piece of string is......everyone has a different need. This gun in a hunting caliber would make it perfect such as 6.8, 308, 6.5 to suggest a few. You would have to try this new gun out with handloads to test its accuracy potential with good ammo to see if the platform would be accurate enough to hunt with. 4 MOA is not good enough in my books.

Why not a line of Canadian rifles then?
6.5 Grendal/.270 Win DMRs.
300 Win Mag bolt guns.
7.62x39 bullpups (this is something I really, really want)
Although that is the reason why I'd love to get into gunsmithing.

Canadian bullpups!! Won't anyone think of the children????? HAHAHA We could only be so lucky?

I agree with you but that is a pipe dream for now.

Back to the topic so I do not get an infraction, We need pics of this new beast 958.

Trying to figure the receiver upper out here.
So... it still ejects out the top, but has part of the dust cover extending around the left side of the bolt?
Kinda like an AK dust cover, except it is cut out on the top a bit more?

On my 858 I actually added a curved piece of plastic under my optic mount to cause it to eject right. Without the deflector, the shells were bouncing off the optic and back into the chamber before it made it into battery about 5% of the time, causing an FTF and FTE effectively.

This new receiver could easily include a deflector to shove casings right, or left for that matter.

Has a built in muzzle brake been considered perhaps an ak74 brake made as part of the barrel to reduce oal

That was already asked earlier, and no, it doesn't work like it does in the US.
A barrel is a barrel here in Canada, adding a muzzle device doesn't affect the barrel length.

isn't the ejector in an 858 pretty much dead center at the bottom (slightly left for slightly right ejection)? I think with a side ejection port you would need the ejector to be at the opposite side, for it to eject freely and reliably.
