Alberta Tactical Rifle Supply Any Good?

I read somewhere else *cough*cgs*cough* that they were willing and actually did engrave a swastika on a *new*build rifle...

Perhaps atrs can confirm or deny this rumor.

I seem to recall it was an insignia that turned out to be from a SS division. Not a swastika. Still not saying that's good but maybe it wasn't known what it was. I wouldn't have known if I just saw it and it wasn't looked up.

time for me to bail in, i own both gen1 atrs lower and one of his long range rifles.... both are excellent in construction and finish, well worth the money to me. yes i have spent upwards of $10k there and would gladly do it again, service has always been top notch.

my last purchase was a nxs 1-4 scope and although it took a year because of nxs production i was always given prompt updates and knew where i was standing

third thing.... only one other company has gone out of thier way to provide 10 round pistol mags, and frankly the current production questar lar mags are a joke as far as quality goes, atrs has designed and had built quality 10 round magazines for the masses.... can't wait to get 10 more of the gen2 mags.

without this canadian company and the nutz that support him we would have none of that.

A sighting system that is properly mounted to the rails of the upper, which in turn is properly mounted to the barrel will perform the same regardless of the type of upper used - be it 7075 series aluminum or what-have-you or run of the mill cast aluminum ones. Do some research - the USAMU have poured millions of rounds through ARs for decades - and they have the data to back up their claims. If 'it' worked they would utilize 'it' in competition.

The notion of a billet upper performing better compared to a 'mil spec' one or that it affords the rifle greater accuracy is preposterous.

I would think the explanation I gave is possibly a marketing thing too. I don't quite believe it to have any benefit as well.

Why listen to the AMU? They are stuck on the idea that the barrel and ammo control 99% of an ARs mechanical accuracy. Besides it is not like they win anything.

Bought several times from them, great people! they even replaced the barrel on my MG4A6 that was bent....from the factory. Love doing business with them.

For the stuff they make in house, it's worth the money for what you get. Just don't ask them for anything they brought up from the States. I tried acquiring an American Spirit Arms Upper and Lower, which in the States is $160 for the lower and $360 for the Side Charge upper. They wanted $1900 for the set. That's $1380 more. You can't tell me import fees cost that much.

If you must spend, you might want to look at Christensen Arms too. Carbon fibre wrapped barrel for stiffness. Less barrel whip.

I have a Christensen Arms:

We DID engrave a lower for a fellow who asked us to with some artwork he provided that depicted a shield and skeleton key as I recall. We mistakenly assumed it was a family crest. We are NOT in the business of looking up, verifying and learning the significance of each and every crest, logo or bit of artwork that someone want to have engraved on their gun. Apparently this was an insignia of some part of the German military in WW2. We dd NOT know this. The owner of the gun posted photos of the gun here when he got it and a ####te storm rained, the thread was locked before any response could be issued.
On the "other" forum ATRS was banned immediately, therefor not allowing for any response and the haters had a feeding frenzy.

So to set the record straight once and for all, we will NOT engrave anything that we know is offensive like a swastika, we will also NOT engrave crosses, any religious, military moto's crests or symbols or any other form of personalization as a result of this 1 mistake.

Ok I'll bite. What does SSLAH mean?

1st SS Panzer Division Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler

SSLAH is the usual short form that people use to denote that Division...

Unless the dudes name you made the rifle for was, "Dietrich", (Dietrich is German for Skeleton Key) the "Key Symbol" (especially in a shield) has to do with the SSLAH.

Well it would appear I need to watch more war movies or develop a deeper interest into foreign military insignias. They certainly did not teach much about WW2 in the few history classes I bothered to attend in school.

I am at a loss as to why anyone would want that on their gun, especially if a person knew what it was associated with. Had we known it would not have been done, however it was done and we have learned from the mistake. I don't know what else to say.

Can we get a "Smith Enterprise" logo done up on a rifle....looks legit, couldn't possibly be confused with anything else....

Why do some Bikers, etc.. wear German Helmets, Leather, Iron Crosses, have SS Tatoos, etc, ad naseum??? Because they think it makes them look "Bad-A$$".... The rest of us just think it looks silly. :p

Maybe for shock value?

I bet there are actually VERY few people who use/wear display SS/Luftwaffe/Wehrmacht etc symbols that believe in the ethos they represent...

I totally understand authenticity on historical items, like perhaps, having the correct SSLAH insignia on a restored Kubelwagen or Schwimmwagen, etc... but, it does take an odd dude to put it on a modern AR-15...

Hah!!!! I'm not big into the different "Black Rifle" Manufacturers, but that is pretty blatant!

Then again, even some of the USMC's finest make Faux Pas at times.... "Oh, it means Scout Sniper!!!" Sure..... ;)

Then there was a recent picture out of Africa with some FFL (French Foreign Legion) Dudes with their "German Motto"....

"Meine Ehre Heisst Treue" (My Honor is Loyalty) - Look to see where that comes from for some jollies... ;)

Anyway, I'm sure this topic has run its course and been beat to death by now... We should stop talking about "Rune-Gate", and let ATRS get back to normal discussion.

PS:ATRS makes fine rifles! :)
