My first 1911 was an unused, parkerized 1911 that when I got it from a collector in Naniamo years ago, still had the original grease in it. I shot it briefly and then had it accurized by a fellow shooter in the Naniamo club that was also a gunsmith of note in the area. I wanted a 'sleeper' to use in Bullseye matches

and it proved to be exactly that. Following the accuracy job, with some decent handloads using a H&G cast bullet and shot off of a Ransom rest, it would consistently shoot into 2 1/2" @ 50yds. One of the many firearms I kick myself for getting rid of over the years but get rid of it I did

. I now had a burning need for what ended up being a couple of Gold Cups and then for paper punching I found I couldn't live without a Walther GSP with all the trimmings for .32, .22 and even a dry firing set up. The Gold Cups also became history.

Getting back into 45s again
In my 45 Harem, on the left from the top down, in 45ACP what I 'presently' have are;
1/Colt 1911 A1 which was the accurized and personal firearm of the gunsmith that did the accuracy job on my 1st.
2/Kimber Super Match II that I recently acquired and is my 'flag ship' of the group.
3/S&W 4506, perhaps a 1911 wanna be but one that sort of fits in the family.
Seems to be some questions on kimber quality

and that may well be true, but from what I see in & on mine, I see nothing to confirm that. Quality, compared to any others I've had or presently have appears to be top drawer

. In all fairness, I guess for me, time and use will be the true test and indicator.
