:agree: I sent an email to Lone Wolf, Storm Lake and IGB asking a simple question on their barrels for Glocks and not one of them replied. I resent the emails a week later to all 3 and still no reply. I don't think these US companies (except for Brownells) gives a rats a$$ about anything when it has to do with Canada.:mad::mad:

This was pre 9/11, but I wrote a letter to Glock asking if they could make a longer barrel for my Glock 27. Whoever got it, called me at home to explain what they could do, which was nothing. I thought that was pretty good to call me.

I did have a Kimber, but sold it due to the external extractor.

I'm actually surprised, I talked to them in person at last years SHOT show and they were very helpful and sent replacement parts for a couple pistols right away. I know they've had issues with MIM parts in the last few years but from what I've sold they have been good guns.

I dont care what your opinion is. I dont even own a HK. Should I make fun of Clint Eastwood for you?

Awww. Did someone make fun of your overpriced, oversized pistol?

And as far as Kimber goes I will never buy there product. The fact there reps give canadians that type of attitude is enough to make me buy elsewhere.

I've been considering a kimber for quite some time now. However, after hearing everyones' GREAT stories about the factory support, and not to mention the somewhat "crappy" quality, I think I will invest my hard-earned dollars in something else. Who would have ever thought?! Thanks for the heads-up, guys...

I was at a pistol clinic and the instructor commented that out of the box Kimbers often need parts replaced. Given their price, I was surprised to hear that.

I have called the makers of various brands of reloading equipment and have always found the support superb. Strange that reloading companies like Canadian customers but the gun makers don't.

I have twice phoned S & W about needing a small part (like an elevation screw) and had a positive experience. I also ordered a side plate screw from Taurus and got good results. Taurus was interesting because they do not mark the model # of the revolver on the gun.

I've always had excellent customer service with Glock but S&W is the absolute best.

Kimber barrels are steel in the white...not stainless. That's why they are rusting like crazy.

Kimber, after reading some of the posts here, I don't think I'll be buying one. Uncoated steel barrels? That really sucks, stainless probably only costs a few $$ more to make. Cheap bastards.

i think sometime we have an idiot in the bad mood answer the phone. no company would say stupid things to customers.
BTW, i'd not buy any thing from them until they change the way they treat us Canadian customers.

hi, waynethman I agree with everybody else that kimber are crap for what you pay for,I personally would hold out for a colt I have a 1996 combat elite.Love it,put thousands of rounds thought it without failure or anything breaking. My 2 cents.

I have read every reply in this post and agree with some and not with others so I guess this makes me just the same as most other people.

I have been a member of this forum for a long time and have gained lots of info good and bad over the years so I think it is worth while being here.

Two things for sure I think I know is that first there are always going to be those that like certian guns and those that don't. To quote my dead father he used to say That there are those that swear by them and those that swear at them. That seems to apply to all things in life.

The second thing I am fairly sure of is that when a person starts a thread titled the way this one is that they may not have the proper manners that they should use when talking to people when they want something. I for one have almost never received that kind of treatment from any place of business. I try never to confrontational with anyone and that way you can get a lot more.

It is sumed up like this You will catch a lot more flies with sugar then you ever will with vinegar.

To the orginal poster Calm down talk nice to them, find yourself a drop box near you on the USA side of the border they are all over the place. Pay them with a credit card and have it shipped to the drop box and then make arrangnments from there. It is not the gun manufactors that are the problem but rather there Government officals who think they are making the USA a better place to live. Look at all the issues that country is having how can they not be screwed up.

In closing what I am saying to you is buy whatever you want and enjoy or it or sell it if you do not like it but become part of the solution rather then part of the problem.

Just my two cents worth.

My first 1911 was an unused, parkerized 1911 that when I got it from a collector in Naniamo years ago, still had the original grease in it. I shot it briefly and then had it accurized by a fellow shooter in the Naniamo club that was also a gunsmith of note in the area. I wanted a 'sleeper' to use in Bullseye matches:D and it proved to be exactly that. Following the accuracy job, with some decent handloads using a H&G cast bullet and shot off of a Ransom rest, it would consistently shoot into 2 1/2" @ 50yds. One of the many firearms I kick myself for getting rid of over the years but get rid of it I did:redface:. I now had a burning need for what ended up being a couple of Gold Cups and then for paper punching I found I couldn't live without a Walther GSP with all the trimmings for .32, .22 and even a dry firing set up. The Gold Cups also became history.

:cool:Getting back into 45s again

In my 45 Harem, on the left from the top down, in 45ACP what I 'presently' have are;
1/Colt 1911 A1 which was the accurized and personal firearm of the gunsmith that did the accuracy job on my 1st.
2/Kimber Super Match II that I recently acquired and is my 'flag ship' of the group.
3/S&W 4506, perhaps a 1911 wanna be but one that sort of fits in the family.
Seems to be some questions on kimber quality:confused: and that may well be true, but from what I see in & on mine, I see nothing to confirm that. Quality, compared to any others I've had or presently have appears to be top drawer:D. In all fairness, I guess for me, time and use will be the true test and indicator.

I just bought an HK P30LS today. Thought y'all should know......

I am inclined to see it this way.

Kimber is a manufacturer that builds a line of products spanning from entry level to mid high end.

Cheverolet is a manufacturer that builds a line of products spanning from entry level to mid high end.

You buy a cavalier, there are bound to be some perceived short comings...buy a Corvette, not too many short comings.

As has been stated, the custom shop guns are rarely #####ed about, and there are better $900-1400 choices for 1911's out there. Once you get into the $1800 and up mark, Kimbers seem to be rock solid. Like I said, my new custom shop carry hd is 'comparable" to my NHC.

Regardless of customer service by the USA based company to the end user here in Canada, if you buy from one of the reputable dealers in Canada, they will stand behind the product and make things right. There are a good half dozen or so gun shops I wouldn't hesitate to buy anything from....even a Kimber.

First off No I was not rude at all I am very polite to everyone I speak to check above dealers or any one I ever traded with on here .... This Person at kimber was nice up to the point I said I was from Canada then her tone changed and attitude changed she was rude when saying our product is ONLY for US residence I caps the only because her tone changed more in that word.... As for the slide nothing was done to redeem it and it ended up as parts even tho it was brand new it was useless and unsafe... I am not saying all Kimber is bad news just this is the second time I was brushed off for being from Canada and treated like dirt from them... If you don't want my money that's fine but don't be rude about it and treat me like dirt ...
