10/22 photos - post 'em up here!

Some really nice rifles in this thread for sure. Here are a couple of my plinkers

10/22 Compact with shortened international stock, I wanted to refinish it but note to self don't strip birch there is nothing good underneath the coating so gave it a bed-liner finish instead. I painted it in way too cool a temperature so it came out really chunky. Smoothed it down with some steel wool and ended up liking it a lot. Added a Williams peep, Lyman front sight, muzzle protector, Creations by Kay mag release, extra weight in the forend and some trigger mods, choate handguard cause it looks cool. Its great for standing target work on the indoor range and shoots better than me.

10/22 Stainless Zytel, Williams peep fire sight, Creations by Kay mag release and trigger plunger, muzzle guard, handguard, VQ internals. I wasn't so crazy about the large fiber optic sight at first but the more I use it the more I like it. Sort of like a red dot without the batteries. and I can do pretty well with it out to 40 yrds.

If you are wondering about the rear sight/base I sort of do my own ace in the hole. I take a Williams peep and shorten it and then use a shortened weaver rail so I can go with the aperture and add a scope with an extension ring when needed. The peep is only held on with one screw but it is on there solid enough.

I picked up this one yesterday at a local shop. I have a couple other 10/22s but rarely use them. I'm a sucker for a full stock though, so brought it home. The kids are enjoying it so far.

Little home made stock/can. Cut my stock down and added a home made tail piece out of milled aluminum and a fake aluminum can.

Looks like a very capable small game gun. Love the natural coloured laminate stock

Agreed, very nice overall. I would try some lower rings though. Lowering that scope by 5/8 of an inch would make it more comfortable and better to shoot overall, but especially at close range. I had a buddy who had a high mounted scope and he'd always hit low on gophers at close range.

Been working on this build for over a year. Think it's finally finished.

Parts list:

  • Grey Birch Fusion RDR (red dot ready) receiver and 12.5” barrel.
  • Grey Birch bolt with integrated charging handle.
  • SBI Chassis.
  • SBI mag adaptor and ProMag Remington 597 22 round magazine.
  • Kidd Single Stage Trigger.
  • Dlask extended magazine release.
  • Vortex Venom 3MOA Red Dot.
  • Standard A2 buffer tube wrapped in a foam cover I took off a broom handle.
  • Aluminum Butt Plate.
  • Magpul MOE-K grip.
  • USGI sling and QD sling mounts.
Specs:

  • Weight: 5.1lbs with sling, red dot and an empty 10 round mag.
  • Overall length: 30.125”
  • LOP: 13.25”
Cost:

  • Around $2000

Preliminary results are 2.5 MOA groups with CCI SV. The Grey Birch Receiver and the SBI Chassis didn't fit and I ended up dremeling a recess in the stock for the back of the trigger pack to fit properly into the stock. So far the mag adapter doesn't work at all with the GB receiver, it's acting as though the firing pin can't reach the round to set it off. Will continue to experiment.

Where you get the aluminum butt plate if you dont mind me asking?
