1022 Tommy Gun Kit

Its illegal to export ammo and some gun parts from the US without a permit. CBSA could care less, they don't enforce US laws. When you get stopped at a random Homeland Security checkpoint departing the US you will be screwed if you are caught with ammo. Its happened to thousands of people, and you might be next.

Really? Well that's interesting.....

Funny that I've been doing this same trip for about 12 years now, and have spoken to a number of local US Michigan state troopers and know both US and Canadian border patrol people almost entirely by name. (FYI.....I buy bulk blackpowder orders & gun parts for local re-enactor groups).

The next time I go to Cabela's and buy my shotgun ammo, (as I've been doing every hunting season for....er, 10 years) I'll ask how many people have been jailed lately.

Anyways, back to the topic at hand...........

Well. I have my 'Chicago style' kit now. I wish I could say that I'm satisfied, but that would be HUGE understatement.

First things first. The kit was packaged to survive a plane crash. Awesome job.

The wood stock, grip and front grip, are unfinished, but FLAWLESS ! Absolutely perfect job machining them. Not a mark, rub or blemish.

The frame, to hold receiver, is well made (no machine marks) nicely finished and heavy. It's going to be a great shooter.....

Everything I've tried, fits together snugly and appears to be exact. It looks better in person than any pics on their site.

I will post some close up pics tonight, but I've made a small mistake. I brought it back to Canada with me, before I realized that I don't yet have a 10/22 here to put it in..... (or that cool drum mag) so no range report for a while anyway.

I'm very very happy with the quality and value for the money. I don't think anyone will be dissapointed.

Good to hear!

I saw the post for sale when it when up. I was tempted but already made arrangements in the states and should have one in two weeks. Can't justify buying two. Did get the extra fore grip so I can use as WWII or Chicago style.

Is someone bringing these in?

Fun Gun and I have been working on trying to get these kits legally into Canada, but given the number of guys that have already openly admitted to illegally exporting them or planning to do so, thereby putting Fun Guns business at risk with the Dept of State, I am wondering if Fun Gun and I are wasting our time?

Here is some of our recent correspondence.

" Rick, how are you? Thank you for the kind comments in the gunnutz thread!
I have done considerable research and I am almost ready to submit my export registration application for approval.
This export license will allow me to export several times per year, but only up to, and not one penny over, the export dollar amount I state on my application.
We may be able to consolidate orders with other export shipments to save freight costs, but this is a small issue.
The export approval fee is currently $2,250. It has to be paid up front when you submit the application. It is good for one year only.
Is there truly enough demand in Canada to make this viable?
How many Kits do you think you can sell in one year? I need this info to estimate the maximum export dollar amount per year for the application process.
Depending on the quantity of Kits ordered, I may or may not be able to absorb the export license cost.

I guess we are at the point where we need to make some business decisions. I hesitate to spend the export License fees unless I know it is worthwhile....."

The $2250.00 plus shipping will have to be divided between the number of kits we export, there will be freight costs as well to consider

SO here is the question we have.
How many guys are willing to put their money where their keyboard is?

Both Fun Gun and I are willing to continue to pursue what is involved in the legal exportation of these kits, but in order to come up with an exact cost per kit we need to know how many kits we will be dealing with.

In the past I have had plenty of "yeah I will take 1 for sure" comments but when it comes down to sending the $$ I always end up with guys jamming out.

What I would propose is that those who are serious place an order, back it up with a $200.00 deposit, which will be held in trust here.

After 15 days we will advise all of how many kits are really sold and what the exact landed legal cost per kit will be. I will be contacting other retailers in Canada to try and get additional orders so that the numbers are worthwhile.

At that point all of us will know whether the $2250.00 export license cost to the Dept of State can be justified. IF the numbers do not work the deposits will be returned and the project to legally import these kits cancelled.

Ok

would the moderators allow a new thread for the purpose of determining interest by a sponsor or are we treading on thin ground, I would like to see this work

hope a mod can give us guidance
