Some very insightful points get raised, and your first reaction is shock and then mockery. And not really any comment on the insights shared or observations made.

The fact that same guys speaks about "insightful points" and can't tell who invited him in the same message kinda tells us what... about his insightfulness?

Yep, coming from my end.

I invited you to play thinking you’d actually contribute factual info and take something away from this rifle.

Proof that at least some 1957/58 SKS carbines did receive hardwood stocks.
 
I have a letter series in hardwood, metal all seems original but stock is missing the cartouches around the crossbolt, has inspection stamp and correct serial number. I don't think butt plate was ep on it like my one that appears like new.

I immediately see two issues. Level of oxidation of metal surfaces is definitely higher than when it was made in 1950x, chemical composition of stock has changed as well. A well trained eye immediately could tell you these are "rearsenal treatments" :)

I did find what I consider to be a bit rare, picked up a.couple Chinese sks at different dates, when I was looking at serial numbers found they were both factory 16 and within 50 serial numbers of each other. One had the fiberglass do called jungle stock. Off topic as heck but I found it pretty neat anyways.

Great fun In collecting and researching these old guns.
 
OMG! I just read this whole thread!!! What a rollercoaster! I went from chuckling to laughing to screaming WTF!!! Makes me want to go pull out all mine as I seem to remember a few were in non-issued/non-re-furb condition before they got burried in the vault! Gotta keep the hilarity going!!! :)

Lol good luck, a few people here seem to think there is no such thing as a Non-refurb
 
Problem is, they are DEEP!!!! Might have to tie a rope around my waist and bring a box of crackers with me so I can either pull myself out or leave a trail of crumbs!!!! LOL
 
What I find amusing are the claims to original condition beng made for surplus rifles that were easily half-a-century old before the ended up before they ended up in the western market.

You're really pushing the limits and illustrating the shortcomings of a G.E.D. certification

Nearly six decades after these rifles were made, and the claim to 100% original condition is simply a testament to lunacy.

How?

There are plenty of unissued rifles that are much older.

What does age have to do with anything?

Think Brazilian M1935’s and 1908’s, Port K98k, wrapped Lee Enfield’s, etc.

I fail to see your point. There are many much older rifles that have remained unissued.

I know you fail to see my point. I gather failure is not unfamiliar to you.

"Original condition" and "unissued" are distinctly different terms with distinctly different meanings.

So to you a little black paint to prevent rust when in transit no longer makes it original unissued condition?
 
Romanian and chinese guns were produced contemporaneously, and under direct Soviet technical direction and supervision.

Original m56 and type56 carbines have neither paint nor EP serials on the stock plates.

Conclusion: the same likely applies to the Soviet carbines. One step further: your OP carbine is NOT original
