Same as last year since it turned into a pretty good one. Pictures, prep, tactics, gear, guns, ammo all that fun stuff put in in the thread so we can all see, discuss and argue about it! I'll be headin up to try to finish the blind tomorrow and take some pictures. Will also get some pictures of my gun and ammo combos as well. Join in guys early goose is only 4 days away and duck is 20 here in the Southern region!

Goose opened 5 days ago here, I'm not great for remembering to take field pictures, but here is are a few already posted on another thread;

If I shot Bismuth the gun would be cheap... I prefer it the other way around... ;)

Hey man lookin closer at the second picture it looks like them honkers was either on top of ya or you got one hell of a tight choke. What shot size you usin for them birds? And you got a point there about the gun and bismuth ;)

Hoyt and I have hunted in and around some of the same turf when I lived in Ontario. I'm just razzing him. ;)

Yeah... I knew you were giving me the gears... do you remember how easy it was to get the birds into the decoys in our postage stamp fields? A dozen decoys here is plenty... your tractor trailer load of decoys stresses me out just thinking of setting the spread.

Jesus Murphy it stresses me out too I've seen the size of some of those spreads! I got 4 honker decoys they work just fine haha, more for the ducks than the geese.

Howdy folks,

I'm a novice water fowl hunter from Calgary Alberta, and I am looking for a mentor to show me the ropes. I have my all my paper work complete and my migratory bird license, but I have never hunted duck or geese before. I am a damn good shot shooting trap with my 870 express, but I don't have decoys or a blind. If you are interested in training me, I would be happy to do the driving and cleaning. Thanks in advance.

Dominic

Lol.......but you don't get to see 10,000 + geese descend on you almost en masse!! Well worth needing a Class 1 drivers license with air brake endorsement to move the spread!! :sok2

My season finally gets under way this weekend. Start my days off tonight at 5pm, woohoo!! Most times I love my 10/4 work rotation but come hunting season not so much.

The early goose opener starts on Thursday for S Ont. I hope it cools down a lot over the next 36 hours!

Agreed,
It is far too warm still in S-Ont. If I can still drive to work with the jeep doors and top off at 5AM in a t-shirt then its too warm to be posted up in a field (for me anyways).
I am really hoping tonight's temp takes a dive.

10-4 sounds loooooong!

I'm on 12's in a 2 on/2 off/3 on/2 off/2 on/3 off rotation... I love this schedule.... goes fast and I can get time off wherever I need it... like for shootin' stuff.

We are out for ducks in the morning... heading off to bed... dang dogs know we are going and they are bouncing off the walls... shouldn't let them see us get the guns and decoys packed.
