As posted in another thread, opening day for Canada's saw me bag 4 birds, with only 1 bird downed 2 days later. The birds were hunted over water with an 11 decoy spread (8 floaters, 3 feeders). Birds were called in to within 20 yards and a total of 6 shots were required to bag all 4 birds. One bird reminded me what "a wild goose chase" really means as it attempted a quick swim into unpassable swamp waters and required an additional 2 shots to end the retrieve. And as usual, Murphy's law also reminded me that regardless of how well tuned an outboard engine is, the only time it will ever stall out and flood is when a crippled bird is trying to make a quick getaway. Good times!
As for gear, Im shooting Federal and Winchester shells in various shot sizes. But the ones used on this hunt were Winchester 3 1/2" BB's and Federal 3 1/2" BBB's. The gun being used is a Mossberg 935 and the decoys are Redhead floaters and Higeon Feeders.
