2015 Waterfowl Thread

Already shared in another forum but these were my first ducks ever. Pretty stoked - any good recipes?

AWESOME! Yer first birds ever are my bucket list birds good job brother! As far as recipes go I just take the breast meat and legs off em and fry em in butter. Cut a apple up real fine sometimes and throw it in with it to, the apple pretty well dissolves and tastes great!

Well, it's the opener here in NB. I missed goose season because of work, now I'm missing the Zone 2 opener. At least it's a monsoon outside, so it wouldn't have been very nice anyway ...

Hoping to hit the Zone 1 opening in two weeks, but it's never as good, in my experience.

I've traditionally hunted Zone 1 hard, especially for black ducks, and especially after deer season. Last year, there were no black ducks around at all, and I only managed a couple hunts over decoys, all in Zone 2. I think I'll try that again this year. It'll be not as fun, though, since my hunting buddy has left town for college. :(

Opener on Saturday, always just family and a few of the cousins starting to get into it a bit more after they came out for youth season.

Good duck numbers around for early October. We don't see the push till a week either side of nov 1
