A 22 mag is much too light for wolves. I consider wolves harder to kill than deer, and maybe even black bear.
I know, you will now chime in with, "any animal hit in the lungs will soon die, etc, etc." Wild wolves in the bush are hard to shoot. Any shot you get will likely be aimed at the wolf, rather than at a vital spot. I have had to trail down wolves hit hard with each of a 270 and a 30-06. I also lost a wolf that I had knocked down with a 30-06. I think 100 grain bullets in a 243, or 6mm of some kind would be adequate, but I wouldn't want to go any lighter.
