Yeah it's funny what a difference it makes. To be honest I don't really understand why; I can shoot at a 1" square at 7y and feel pretty confident in the outcome, and yet shooting the bull with fat sights at 25 is strangely difficult. I can't really explain the discrepancy but I really notice it.
I had a Bersa out last night and the sights are actually very good for factory day sights, but the FS is too wide to shoot well at 25 for sure. But that's such a small percentage of most people's handgun time that I think the ups outweigh the downs on that particular set of sights.
Sights are fixed and zeroed for 25ish. Were I using this pistol for PPC or Bullseye I'd put totally different sights on it, but for ISPC it's perfect. I have narrow CGW front sight with 1mm FO (red) in it and the factory FO (green) rear sight. I am waiting on some of the new style rear sights to show up, but they won't help with 25yd stuff really, I just like them better (emotional thing). Benched the gun shoots much better. The vertical stringing is 100% my shaky arms and a bit of trigger snatch I was doing last night. Practice is important. I haven't shot meaningfully in probably 6 months. I had the match in Russia 2 weeks ago, one in Norway 5 weeks ago and some classes I taught prior to that. Most of the shooting I've done in the last year has just been demos, except for the Langdon course in July (forgot about that up above), but I was kind of not mentally in it for that course as Clob can attest to.
That looks like me (I didn't post my targets)! With a shadow no less? I no longer feel so bad. Guess we both have to keep trying harder

Yeah, the cold killed it. -14 deg. is a bit too cold to keep things on track. My hands felt numb & couldn't hold still on the last 3-4 shots at each of these targets. Now, if I could have shot those in a warm indoor range, would have been a different story![]()
I hear ya. Baby its cold outside. LOL
Geez like maybe somebody could start a 50 yd indoor warm freestyle alternate resized target type thread.
^^Outstanding shooting!
I teach this to shooters at the local range and it works wonders. I picked it up from a Ron Avery tip I found on youtube. Search for "triggerstripe" on youtube and you'll see it demonstrated.I got some really good advice today from an old guy watching his son in law shoot, he grabbed the front of my gun and pushed it too the left and told my to use the muscles in my right forearm to to pull it straight againand to remember it and donit when I shoot. He also noticed I tend to drop the tension in my right at about 5 round into my mag. I thought he was just there watching but he was telling me he owns over 50 1911's and has been shooting his entire life he looked to be around the 70 marks. I followed his advice and I instantly noticed better shooting he picked up on things other instructors never have and just from watching me. Ill post my targets later I may have to try and make it too my usual range tomorrow and see if any of it took.
