25 Yard Freestyle Accuracy.....let's play a game.

Made it to the range today since it was a warm +3 C today. However the wind was 20-50, so I only shot 10m. I could only muster a 2 3/4" group with the CZ Kadet kit. Did not even use the printed targets. Can't wait for spring. Damn that gun is fun to shoot though.

So today I was breaking in my new M&P9 Pro Core. I threw out a target to 15 yds and had good results. I pushed it out to 20 to put another magazine through it and this was the result.

So I put a couple of targets out at 25 Yds to see how I would do. (124g Centaure FMJRN). I was shooting on targets similar to the first, so I transposed the holes to B-8 targets for comparison. I would have bet money I fired 10 rounds on the target, but only 9 holes showed up, and I don't recall flinching, but I am happy with the results.

Just to keep myself honest I pulled out the Norinco NP-40 (CZ clone) to see how well I was doing in 40 S&W (Centaure 165g FMJFN). After about 40 rounds I finished off with 9 at 25 yds.

I forgot to add that I tried this 2 weeks ago with my other 9mm, and let's just say the results were depressing.

Well I finally got out to play. I had spent the day with some S+W revolvers a 17-4, my Murray Charlton M19 and a 610. Sorry for the terrible Iphone pics but that's all I had. I'm not 100% sure how to score these but I'll take a shot at it:

The 610 is showing some great potential but that light single action was getting away on me after shooting the M19 in double action.

Finally got time to go out and have some fun trying this 25yd challenge. Started out with my S&W Model 41, cheated a bit here with a red dot. Best group was a 99 (3X)

Thought I'd try some 45acp so I brought out my STI TargetMaster. Best group was 94 (3X). The stock STI trigger is great, but have to admit, was spoiled by the triggers of my target .22's. I think I'll do better with more trigger time on this one.

Finished off with my trusty Ruger 22/45 with a TRS-25 red dot. Just love this handgun. It eats just about anything. Best group was 99 (5X). So now I am addicted to hitting the perfect 100 with 10X's lol.

Those are very nice targets. Groups are vertical. Do you use a 6 o'clock hold? If so, try leaving a larger slice of white under the bull. That wills top the front sight getting lost in the black.

I would say that at 25y it's kind of an in between 6 o'clock hold & poa/poi picture. Since my rear sight is not adjustable it's in between "driving the dot" & "action shooting" sight picture (front sight dot at the bulleye & top of the front sight level with the bulleye). But hey, I still need to practice with that fine pistol.

Hey Clobb,
I didn't think I'd like the Shadow. I'm an old 1911 guy, but the Shadow has turned me around.
For out of the box, it's very hard to beat. Good trigger, feels good in my hand, accurate and low recoil.

The DA pull on the shadow is not bad but I need to swap the main spring to an 11.5# to make it better, my trigger scale goes up to 8 lbs but I would estimate that the DA is 11 or 12 #, the SA breaks at 3.2lbs and is great.

Your groups are vertical because the front sight is in the black. OK for action shooting, but for bullseye you need a horizontal reference of white. Try putting a piece of paper across the bull so you only see the top half of the black. You shoot very well and deserve a higher score.
