Now that I have seen the pics side by side I'm starting to think you are both the same person. If you are going to change identities, make sure you change your shooting glasses at the same time.

Hey, just to bring the subject back on topic, what bullets you all been using?
I was measuring and scheming and discovered two unhappy facts:
A. The 200gr cast lead hollow points I have been hoarding for years are just not gonna work in the Whisper. To keep the ogive off the lands the bullet has to be seated about 3/4 the way into the case which will cause all kinds of problems with powder space and feeding.
B. In order to get the 208gr AMAX to fit into the mag, the bullet ends up about 130 thou off the lands. Not a crisis but makes me wonder how accurate it will be with a jump like that.
On the good news side, the Matrix 200gr bullets I have are nice and stumpy meaning they fit nicely into the mag and can be loaded out to the lands. Don't know how accurate they are but so far they have all loaded and gone BANG.
It looks like the Lapua 200gr Subsonic bullet will also fit and function properly based on its shape and length. Haven't shot any of these yet cause they are spendy and I don't want to waste them doing load development.
I have a hundred 110gr supersonics loaded and ready to go. Not sure what I am gonna do with them but they are loaded and ready to go.

Have you tried the Sierra 240 gr MK at all??? I had a 16" Contender barrel back in the day that loved tose things...
I don't see how that would change anything. It is likely to be longer than the 208 AMAX which would make the jump even worse. I need a shorter, stumpier bullet to fit in the AR mag.

My best luck so far has come with the Combined Technologies 180gn Ballistic Sivertips (the Winchester-Nosler hybrid). They're pretty spendy at $0.60 or so apiece, but yardie can testify that I have my .300 running like clockwork on those things right now. Loaded about 30 thou shorter than mag length (by eyeball), they work fiiiiiine just fine.
However, they're not exactly a cheap range-plinking bullet... so I'm actually in the process of trying (and failing) to make my own custom cast bullet mould. I've tried cherry cutting a few, but without a double-acting vise it's tough sledding. So, I'm going to try a lathe boring approach, or use an R8 boring head on the mill. Either way, it should take care of the problems I've been having with unsupported side cutting using such a thin profile cutter (cherry) on one half of the mould at a time.
I also plan to run a long, deep but thin, hollowpoint pin through the works - and will let you all know how it turns out.
Thus far though, the 180 Ballistic Silvertips have been my most reliable feeding/cycling subsonic "pill."
This after I also swapped the semi-auto BC from my 5.56 upper, and lightened it on the lathe by machining 10 grams off of the back end. I thought I'd start small (like a haircut - you can always take more OFF...) since the semi BC was jussssssst about perfect... but the 10 grams has actually worked quite well with the 180's. I might knock another 10 or 20 grams off and see if I can get the thing to cycle 100% with the 147-grainers I can get in bulk as milsurp. I'd really prefer to go cast though - nothing is as cheap as cast...

Down the road, I'm going to be ALLLL over a .300 Fireball/Whisper build on a cheap .223 action that I'll rebarrel.
If you're serious about the reamer, call Pacific Tool and Gauge. Or just wait a tick and I'm sure ATRS/Suputin will be able to tell you where they got theirs...

I have a reamer (PTG) but it will be used very shortly for a Rem 700 build with a 14" barrel!

You mean just the reamer, or the complete project? The reamer itself is about 200 US. The completed rifle, 1500-2000 depending if you include the scope or not.
