Loaded subsonic, it's still loud as hell - but isn't nearly as loud or "flashy" as a shorty in 5.56. This makes it a joy to shoot, even if the ammo takes time and effort to make.
When the intial upper was being tested at an indoor range the guy sitting beside asked about the rifle cause it was soooooo quiet compared to a normal shorty AR which tend to be fairly obnoxious. And that was shooting supersonics!
It is also nice to be able to use cheap pulled mil surplus 147-150gr bullets and small charges of powder. As Doc has shown, brass can be made from cheap, plentiful .223 Rem cases. So other than a bit of work to make the cases, this thing is actually quite cheap to shoot.
Another one will be built soon . Just waiting for my 16" barrel to get here from ATR.
It went in the mail late last week. It is all up to the postman now.
Think it was sitting on Peter's desk about to be shipped last I saw....
Aren't you supposed to be home sick and not playing on the internet ? ? ? ? ? ?
