So how many months before we see it up FS in the EE?
I'm not Win 94, and I'm not Doug!!
I've been paring down my collection for several years, and adding to it when the *perfect* firearm comes up. My rifle line up (not counting sentimental guns or ones that are inexpensive "fun" guns etc) will be:
22LR Stainless HB 10/22 wiht Laminated stock
223 Mdl 700 LVSF
260 Mdl 700, stainless Gaillard HB, Macmillan stock
7RM, Ruger MK II, stainless, TImeny trigger B&C stock
30/30 Savage 340 bolt action carbine
300WSM Leeper mdl 70 Stainless, Smith barrel, Bansner stock
375 Ruger Alaskan.
I think that's about as perfectly balanced a battery I can get, suited for my style of hunting/shooting in North America, so no trading anytime soon.
I certainly hope the 375 Ruger is a success, it sounds like a great cartridge. Of course I had the same hopes for the 376 Steyr, too
I think it will be a sucess. It puts a larger caliber rifle in the hands of anyone that can afford a 30-06. The Ruger rifles have been getting excellent reviews from gun writers that I htink I can trust, such as Phil Shoemaker and John Barsnes. Of course, other writers liek Boddington praise it too, but many of them will praise anything.
The Steyr failed because it was too proprietary (Steyr is not a huge seller in the USA) and it didn't quite give H&H performance, which may or may not be relevent in the field, but is in perception of buyers.
If it's not a sucess, it's not a big deal. I'll keep stocking up on brass, and they arent' going to stop makig 375 caliber bullets.
