.45 vs 9mm - The debate is over, say the Experts

Very situational dependent. If yer worried about only having 10 round, carry spare mags. Pretty sure the .45 P+ is a showstopper on the first hit, even if it is not a vital hit.

Yup, I heard from some guy that if you even shoot the guy in the hand, it will stop his heart instantaneously from the hydrostatic shock...

9mm is a bit lighter and a bit faster.
45acp is a bit heavier and a bit slower. M

10mm is heavy + high velocity = winning.

If you like semi-auto, and you like bragging about having something that's better than what someone else has, you'd better have a 10mm.

That said, if you have a revolver, the sky is the limit; there are a half dozen options more powerful than 9mm or 45acp.

Ooooh, this is gettin' good.
I shoot .40, .45, 38spl/357mag and enjoy them all.
Fired a few 9's but don't own one (Gotta fix that).
Gotta admit, the quicker target re-acquisition of the lower recoil 9 makes some sense. More holes=more leakage.
That being said; All of them kill the sh*t out of my paper targets.

Well. I'm out in left field because I only shoot 357 magnum and 45 Colt in handguns. Sometimes a shooting buddy's 44 magnum or 454 Casull or 10 mm. None of the ones on the list?!? Guess I should try some new calibers.... Get decent impact with the 45 Colt though.

For sure for the expected bowling pin attack carry a 45. For effectiveness carry a 50S&W.
Blah, blah blah, Shoot a steel plate or bowling pin with a 9 or 357 and then a 45. Then tell me which one is more practical. A 10mm is effective, but not practical IMO (availability, costs, etc)

If you did some searching you would have educated yourself on the true reason for the 40. It was another failed attempt at finding a caliber to replace both the 9 and 45. Proper traing with the standard of the time would have led to a better outcome, however it was easier to blame the weapon caliber.

There are zero hand gun Calibers out there that will end a confrontation quickly, unless a brain or spinal shot hits home. IMHO the 9 is the superior cartridge due to its multiple shot controllability for both an inexperienced and professional operator. The 45 is another fine round that requires some work to double tap. The 40, well is a wannabe caliber that can be a handful for any shooter.

OK, so you don't believe the .40S&W is as good as another cartridge, fine. You like the 9mm, fine. No one is trying to force their opinion on you. Like I said, I respect the choice of any LEO, as it's their azz on the line.

None of your argument applies to my original comment, but you tagged it, then made your comments. That didn't make a whole lot of sense in the first place, so it appeared as trolling. You have stated that you are better educated, on an issue, than other CGNers. Well, you are only guessing at that, because you have no idea of their experience, regardless of what the internet says.

I know someone whom plans to deer hunt with his .45 ACP rifle, this fall. It will be interesting to see what this bullet will do to a whitetail, out to 50 yards.

I own both the 9 and 45, the 45 is a big gun with a 5 in barrel but I definitely prefer it. if I had to carry it all day I would probably feel differently.

Enjoying my new to me 1911 in 45. True dual purpose pistol for me. Go to the range to shoot paper with 45acp or swap out the recoil spring and mag and run 45-08 in the bush. Of course a 9x19 could never work like this for me but I'd still get one some day if not just for sng there's the fact I'd have more 9mm brass from the range than any other cartridge.

The yanks also spend a great deal of time in mental masturbation over this considering the vast majority who do carry will never shoot ought but paper

The big heavy slow 45 is a smile maker. I savour it like a good beer. 9mm is soda pop - slam it down and grab another.

Sometimes I want one and sometimes the other.

Got no use for 40/10mm. I have enough crap to reload as it is.

I think the experts finally just made a preferred choice what they would want/use, because they are sick of everone asking them.

But they can't stop printing articles in Guns & Ammo and other various gun rags every other issue about it.

The "debate" will likely never end just for that reason alone!
