264wm will push 140's about 100 fps faster than a 6.5PRC/6.5RM/6.5-284, all things being equal
Hmm More like 150-200 FPS !

RJI picked up some of that 6.5 Rem Mag brass sitting in the EE. Thinking of converting over a Model 700 SA in 300 wsm to one. With an extended mag box at 2.98". Maybe it's better in a long action... Not sure. Possibly a medium like a M70SA or Kimber to 3" is a better candidate for a hunting gun.
Anyone have or build one? Looks like a nice cartridge running just above a 6.5/284.

I am... nothing said on this thread would discourage a rifle built in 6.5 Rem Mag.
No, not in equal barrel lengths, loaded to the same pressures. Let's talk reality
6.5RM is about the best rounded higher velocity 6.5 available. I've never experienced anything negative about a "belted" cartridge either. There are faster but at the expense of barrel life. 6.5RM is the sweet spot.
Hard to say an obsolete cartridge is the best
Sure, but the cartridge is hardly 'available' , nobody makes ammo or brass for it, let alone rifles

Nobody makes brass. The end.

Not hard finding brass... or making it if need be... when you come to a stop sign, do you turn around and go home, Chuck?
Seriously??? This is Canadian Gun "Nutz!"
We load our own, make our brass, build our rifles...
If you shoot 20 rounds a year out of a rifle no biggie. But if you actually shoot stuff give your head a shake. Seriously.
Do you buy your brass in singles, Chuck?
I would bet that I shoot more rounds a year than you do... likely by far... 300 CF rounds this morning, from six rifles, and that twice a week most of the year. I have 500 6.5 Rem Mag brass, I have 6.5 Rem Mag dies, I have a couple K 6.5 bullets, I have two M77-R MKII SS .350 Rem Mags, one of which is just dying to become a 6.5 RM... how does that not make sense?
You don’t shoot more than me, no.
Find me 500 rounds of 6.5 RM brass.
