6.5x55 Semi?

As the AG42 is a unregulated direct impingement rifle, be careful what ammo you feed it. Too fast or slow powder burn rate could be dangerous. I shoot Sellior & Bellot through mine without seeing any danger signs but it is fairly hot stuff as well.

Hey, you aren't a collector until you have felt the sting of Garand and Ljungmann thumb :).

My father won't even look at at an M1 rifle since he almost lost his thumb to his training rifle during the military service haha

No country willingly issued it's troops with inaccurate rifles. Quite a few MILSURPs are capable of very accurate shooting depending on the old variables of shooter skills, ammo quality, and mechanical condition of the piece (bore condition, bedding, and sights). People will plump for different rifles depending on their own experiences and biases, kind of like what breed of dog is best. I really like the Garand because of it's excellent sights. Most folks can shoot better with aperture sights. I like the M14, M1 Garand, Model 1917 Enfield, No4 LE, and M1903 (using aperture in rear sight slide) and 03-A3 Springfields for this reason, but I have had excellent results with a Finnish M27 Mosin and a No1 MkIII LE. Lately I find myself being seduced by an amazingly accurate M96 Swede Mauser. Shade your bets for accuracy by using quality handloads, checking bedding, keeping guard screws tight and shooting at a suitable target.

Aaa sorry guys this slip my minde, its a 6.5x55. I have since go a hold of a restored ag42 and I have put this one for sale on the ee

No is this rifle supposed to be loaded with a Stripper clip? The reason I ask is they never had one and have been loading direct into the mag.

Also any info on what this rifle is.

Thanks

That is an original AG-42 which somehow escaped the process to turn it into an AG-42(B). They are RATHER scarce in any condition, even sportered such as this one.

Magazine is correct, also, does not have the extra spring-clip as did the converted mags.

There was a special 10-round Charger made both for these and for the SAFN-49. In both cases, they seem to be slightly scarcer than turkey-teeth.

A very rare piece, to be sure.

what was the difference in the B model? these are non restricted correct?
AG 42/42B are non restricted.
-the model B have knob instead of serrations on the action cover.
-B magazine have a catch in the front, like the one you have.
-B model have a stainless gas tube, look like yours have the original blued 42 tube replaced with the later stainless one.
-B model have a plastic rear sight knob, the earlier 42 had a metal knob.
-B model have a one piece cleaning rod, replacing the 2 pieces rod of the ag42.
-model B have a small rubber bumper on the action cover to protect brass from damages
- improved trigger and recoil springs on the B model.

the globco mohawk is a .303 converted svt-40. I keep thinking I want one of these 'just because' .... The next auction in Paris (Landsbourough auctions) has one listed. Seeing the pic of one from an old auction reminded me...... I have an Ag42b , and an Svt-40 .... they are similar in a lot of ways.....
