6.5x55 Semi?

OK

OP has suggested that the folks he was purchasing the rifle from chambered an 8mm round. The pic certainly suggests "pure" swede to me!

Here's some ammo. Two on the left are 6.5x55, the single on the left is an 8mm.

Here's my (filthy) Ljungman's chamber. Bolt has been removed.

Here is a round of 6.5x55 in the chamber.

Here is a round of 8mm Mauser. I have slid it in easily with a finger until it stopped (nothing like the push of the bolt! I dunno how deeper the bolt would wedge it in, but I doubt it could crush it all the way in)

As pure a Swede as it looks in the pics, it'd be worth a few minute's time determining what it is actually chambered in. I have doubts someone re-bored the barrel, but in that pic it is certainly a Swede barrel.

EDIT:
Sorry for the blurry pics.

Camster your pics are good and shows that the 8X57 will NOT even come close to fitting the 6.5X55 chamber.
One thing I would point out to Ljungman owners, if you encounter a shell that sticks part way into the chamber, (ie handloaders beware) you never use the bolt to try and force (drive) the shell into the chamber. what can happen is called a "slam fire" the firing pin strikes the primer when the brass IS NOT fully chambered, the bolt flies back at you and pieces of BRASS go everywhere, face, hands etc.
Now back to this rifle, WHY does the seller NOT KNOW what caliber this rifle is. Any gunsmith could figure this out???

The seller, a dealer, know its a 8mm mauser, the pro is that they say its a 1943 but they were never made in that caliber.

I'm probably as curious as you now without having invested a cent...When it comes in, you'll know in a few short minutes if it's as described! The pic you have posted (from vendor) shows a fine example of a Swede. The vendor checked it with 8mm, and as most folks, I'd like to believe the vendor/dealer.

Regardless, don't leave us hanging when it does come in!

Don't worry as soon as I get my hand on it il post here.... now I got 2 rifle comming in next week my girlfriend is going to kill me lol.

other than that , these are sweet sweet rifles , and in my opinion , much better than the m305's ( Chinese m14) .

I honestly don't understand why you even mentioned the M305. Who was comparing rifles to begin with? They're not even chambered for the same cartridge. You seem like you have something to prove.

Get her to squeeze the triggers on them. Get used (quickly) to the notion she may shoot better (any girl I've brought shooting seems better than me) than you, and then share the fun! Gals I know that do shoot, tend to be more fun to shoot with than my regular trigger-squeezin' buddies.

I have ben bugging her to comme to the range with me for two years to no avail!!! But now I may have a chance one off her college and friend just finished her hunters class and she want to comme to the range. My girlfriend is a generally jealous so she will come ;)

Very interested in this, I had a nice AG-42B in 6.5MM and loved it, shouldn't have sold it, there VERY accurate, and very light recoil, makes a hell of a boom! too.

The dealer should have confirmed the caliber for you. Please tell who it is so that others know NOT to buy from them. As an aside, 6.6X55 being larger in diameter in the body, shouldn't fit in an 8X57 as well. Now a 308win may, just by fluke fit in both with nasty results.

As I just said a couple of time in this tread they have! Its just that that year they were not chamberd in that caliber.

You are either very brave, or very foolish in taking another woman shooting, fishing or hunting. Getting your fingers caught in an AG=42b will seem like a minor irritant compared to getting your head caught by a jealous girlfriend.

Good luck, and may you have a speedy recovery. Laugh2

I would only take her if my gf would come!
