7.62mm DCRA LE No4 conversion thread

I took mine to the range last weekend, and was disapointed to find it wouldn't fire. I tried two types of ammo, and figured it was hitting the primer too lightly.
It would leave a small dent, but no blammo!
The extractor ( a stock .303) wasn't working at all either.
The round would just drop into the space under the bolt, which required mt to turn the rifle upside down to shake it free.

So, I suppose it is a work in progress.
I got a 7.62 enfield mag for it. I will be needing a proper extractor, so if anyone has one, I would appreciate a PM.
Thinking about improving the stock.

Any ideas why it would have a light strike?
I noticed the firing pin has two small grooves worn in it about halfway down.

Is there any way to keep that target triger when using a mag?

Conundrums!

"Ganderite- Does the blue rifle have a fibreglass wrapped Sonier tube barrel? Looks like it."

I am pretty sure the barrel is a hammer forged Enfield. These were popular barrels at the time for long range rifle. As I recall, they were also very tight. In he order of 0.3065".

The hammer marks may not be visible in the pictures, but are very clear in the hand. It looks like it has been painted.

Is it a L42A1 barrel?

I don't know. The Envoy came with the Enfoed barrel and while in Bisley we often bought the Enfiled barrels to bring home for our next rifle. Sometimes we had a rifle re-barreled while in Bisley with Shultz Larsen or Enfield barrels.

If anyone is looking for a Lee in 7.62NATO then you can get them brand new from marstar.
Speaking from experience, they are of very good quality, and a joy too shoot!

Sorry, they are not Lee Enfields. They are made in Australia/Vietnam.And are not in anyway a DCRA conversion.Yes I have one of each.
