7.62mm DCRA LE No4 conversion thread

DCRA#221 went out today to the range to see how it would shoot. I was pleasantly surprised at how accurate it actually is. 10 rounds, loading and ejecting with the awesome Sterling magazine functioning perfectly with no hangups. I really like those Parker Hale sights. Small aperture, but very precise. Someone put a lot of work into these rifles to get them shooting well.

Just a side note to all of this, do people get together and fire these guns?? It seems to me, black rifles have taken over.
I have these rifles in 303 and 308. Some with 308 enfield magazines or sterling magazines. I have a no4 308 sniper in
the box. You just don't see this stuff at gun shows anymore. They have faded away like the pcmr winchester 30 30

Haven't seen any at the ranges but saw 2-3 at the Calgary gunshow, so they are still kicking :)

#1199 /Long Branch' 43 has been undergoing reconstructive surgery. A previous owner had milled off the back top of the receiver to force the fitting of a Parkerhale PH5A sight. My gunsmith has rebuilt the missing receiver steel with TIG welding then worked it back to it's original conformation so that regular #4 sights and scope mounts can be fitted. This is what it looks like now (I still need to reassemble it):

This may have been discussed here or in other forums, so my apologies if that's the case. When I acquired my DCRA rifle and took it to the range, I was extremely impressed with its accuracy but not thrilled about having to feed each round in manually. So I looked for a Sterling mag for some time without any luck and thought even if I found one, they are outrageously priced and they're kind of ugly (in my opinion). Or maybe it's that they ruin the classic lines of the Enfield. Nevertheless, eventually I found an Ishapore 2A1 mag, so I picked it up for a reasonable price. With some adjustments to the feed lips it fed just fine. But those mags are really ugly. So I got the idea that maybe the spring and follower from the Ishapore 2A1 mag would fit into the .303 mag of the DCRA rifle...
