My DCRA (#221) 7.62 conversion ejects just fine from the action. No special modifications and using a stock .303 extractor. Sterling Mag feeds reliably. No mod on the receiver or magazine for ejection. It is a smooth operating repeater.
The rifles were used as single shots. If a Sterling or L42 magazine has been installed, this is most likely something done recently. While a 7.62 magazine might make the rifle more appealing to a contemporary shooter, it has little to do with the original intended use of these rifles.
I found about 6 of the sterling magazines at the local milsurp scrapyard, so that means they were likely used in military service shooting at some point here in Manitoba. I ended up paying $10 each for them.
