7.62mm DCRA LE No4 conversion thread

I’m new to these rifles, mine is different than what was noted above, it has a globe front sight, PH FS22( it looks like the barrel was machined to accept it) , rear T/Z 4/47 J Parker sight, there is a holder for sight inserts on the RH side of the butstock, receiver is stamped C N4 MK 1* LONG BRANCH, 1950. Sn 94L1651, no other numbers are visible, bolt has been cut and re- welded and finished (vg workmanship, not a bubba) band on the fore end has CE1967 stamped on it. It may be something pieced together by a gunsmith, it also has the finest trigger I’ve ever squeezed on an Enfield. Someday I’ll have to shoot it.

if it doesnt have the 4 digit conversion number stamped on the bolt handle and action then its probably not part of the 2000 rifle official conversion program, from what I know. can you confirm it chambers 7.62 and what type of magazine, a .303 or a Sterling mag for 7.62?

Another DCRA listed on Joe salters. It is listed as # 608, serial number S.A.C 2. All the other SAC rifles are 807 to 810. I know that 810 was S.A.C 1 and 807 is SAC 4. 809 is SAC 5 ,it was also sold by Joe salter in the USA. They are also all 1956 dated.I also suspect they were all converted at the same time for a Canadian shooting team. SAC 3 is 808, known to have been owned by Desmond Burke. There are at least 6 rifles marked SAC.

Had a quick look at the Salter link. Got a real kick out of the .22" Long Branch 1944 receiver @$495...

Amazing how the receivers have gone up
I have the whole kit and haven't put it together, had it for year's
I think the receiver was $20.00 barrel was given to me with the complete rear sight
The wood is old long branch, but I have new British to use because the parts are nice

If that receiver is worth $495, I wonder about this:

There were two receivers in this package. I used one for my project I posted in the Milsurps forum, ".22 Enfield Barrel".
The other receiver, wrapped in the box, in the grease is ".22" over LONG BRANCH over 1945". You see No. 7 rifles dated 1945. This must have been one of the last ones with .22 dated 1945.

Further to the 7.62 conversions...
If I can find it, I have a copy of the DCRA Marksman detailing bedding experiments trying to get the 7.62 conversions to shoot well.

Central Ordnance had a lot of American 1921/28 parts that they sold off in the 70's. All early stuff
Colt Blue parts in the boxes etc
I was wondering if the 19 T bolt heads were better than the standard LB bolt head for 7.62 extractors?

Hi guys,

I have an used DCRA conversion. I was given the barrel by #### Hampton, unused, old new furniture, proper sights etc and everything new and unused down to the screws. The action was bought from my club, virtually unused. Any idea as to value. I may be interested in selling in the future and am interested to know value. Thanks to all guys for your input. Ian
