Interesting Savage with .308 with what looks like a ishapore mag on the E&E, sniper repro. Possible DCRA conv?
 
DCRA #1883 a 1950 Longbranch conversion in excellent shape with a Parker Hale 4/47 sight, has a new home in Edmonton next to #996. Picked up at the Calgary gun show.
 
#957 with a 303 mag is for sale by a fellow vendor here at the AACCA show in Calgary.
Personally I'm selling #1056 which my father won at an early '60's DCRA championship (newcomers agg) and shot later that decade, as well as #1817 which is a mint condition sporter with Monte Carlo buttstock and enforcer style fore end and upper handguard with the mid band. Full length barrel and target front sight base. Weaver side scope mount too.
 
Every year there are a few DCRA's that pop up at gun shows, I believe we have drain most sources to track them now and the few survivors remain locked up in closets, safes and basements all over.
 
DCRA #1010 FB receiver markings

Good Day,
I was looking at my DCRA #1010 Longbranch rifle I purchased a few years ago. Since it was purchased, an original 7.62 Enfield mag was found along with a modified front sight guard that slipped over the John Wilkes globe front sight. Both were installed with little problems.

I noticed that "FB" was stamped twice on the right side of the receiver (see pictures). Does anyone know the significance of this marking?

Add conversion #36 to the list

1944 un serialized long Branch receiver and bolt.

It's a family gun that I've been aware of for years but never examined before. So I was shocked to see what it actually was...

Would that have been a common practice? There is a burnished area on the left side of the buttstock socket with an additional number sequence "CAI 30275" above the rifles serial number 90L6879. Has anyone seen a similar marking? Could the two be related?

90L###x is the original Long Branch serial number. The CAI is the importers mark/stock number and unrelated to the original sn. What sn is on he back of the bolt handle?

Thank you for the response but I didn't state my question clearly. I was wondering if the "FB" markings and the "CAI 30275" were related. In response to your question, the bolt and receiver have matching sn numbers.
I understand that CAI is a Vermont based US importer but I've never seen them mark a rifle in the manner this one is. Which importers marked their rifles this way? Can someone provide a picture of a similar "importers mark/stock number" rifle?
