if anyone's original rifle serial number is 81L323 i have your No.4 to 7.62 conversion tag! it was an Alberta Provincial Rifle Association deal, with Steve Johnson's name on the tag...
the only other number on the tag is 63-238 which i suspect means nothing vis a vis the conversion numbering system.
 
Well, I am coming late to this party, but now I have read all 65 pages I know considerably more than I did a couple weeks ago.

DCRA Conversion #1403 is here in Kingston, Ontario with its owner, who shot it in the 60s at Palma matches. I have asked him for permission to put some data, and photos, up here. It is a 1942 Long Branch No 4 Mk I* with the AJ Parker 4/47 sight.

This rifle will be for sale in the near future.

Hello, I’ve just all of the threads about DCRA Enfields and i’m fascinated....

I’ve recently seen what I think may be a Canadian club rifle No.4 Mk.2. It has a C in a circle with the serial number in the range N###x where ###x is a four digit number. It’s also a 303.

The information, which is scarce, so far point to rifles assembled mid to late fifties for competition shooting. There appears to have been a batch of them assembled, But by whom and why? I’m starting to think it was DCRA for competition shooting in Canada.

Does anyone know anything about them?!

I picked up a pair of DCRA conversions to 7.62 that have had some interesting mods done. The barrels have an external sleeve put over them for a reason someone here may know. The barrels are 24.5 inches from muzzle to receiver. Both have solid floorplates for single shot, mag on 1958 is permanently attached and the one for 1668 has the top cut off of it. Serial 1668 is built on a LB 1950 and Serial 1958 is built on a LB 1943. Both sights are PH 5C and both have numbers matching bolts I have not fired either yet but looking forward to a range day.

Any thoughts on these conversions would be appreciated.

These may be restorable to their original DCRA configurations sir.

The slide on sleeves were a 60’s attempt of a bull barrel concept to improve accurary and correct me if I’m wrong here. Updated!
