7.62x39 rifles?

+1 for me either or will do. I think we've had 3 or 4 of these threads now - seems like enough intrest to me. Al Flatherty's has the Savage 10 FCM scout in 7.62x39 but it has forward mount scope, which isn't for me but have heard good things.

I have a JW-103 I'm putting up this weekend. Apparently my safe has hit critical mass and Mastercard needs feeding to fund another purchase. I put an inexpensive (but suprisingly clear) scope on it and have a crate of non-corrosive(-60/80rds)that I used before the darn snow got too deep here to go out that will have to go with it. I don't have anything elsethat uses 7.62x39.
Honestly, I don't know what it shoots for a group. Didn't get a chance to put it on paper. Just pinecones. :D

If you look at the Ruger website, they don't have 7.62x39mm listed in the M77 series for 2013. Although it's not the same cartridge, why not consider a bolt gun in .300 Blackout from Remington? The Blackout will do everything the x39 can so in supersonic applications while having the flexibility to shoot subsonics if one desires.

The only advantage x39 offers is milsurp ammo as far as cheap ammo is concerned. I would venture to guess not many are enthusiastic about shooting corrosive ammo through a bolt gun that won't see anywhere near volume of fire that typical semi-autos do during each shooting session. Considering the necessity of cleaning one's firearm after every outting when shooting corrosive.

Cleaning a bolt action after corrosive ammo is even easier, just pour some water down your barrel, maybe the bolt face and you're done. You don't have to worry about gas ports, moving parts or anything like in a semi. For myself, i don't reload, so it's the cheapest trigger time where i get a realistic (not a 22) kick, but it doesn't cost me $1 plus per round.
It's too bad ruger isn't making the M77 for 2013, i have seen alot more people shooting 7.62x39 now with the cheap sks's going around
If you reload, then other calibers do the same thing much better, but with the crate of non corrosive i got from canam i don't even have to worry about extra cleaning with the 7.62x39

I agree. It would be easier to clean than a semi-auto but still, you're left without a reasonable choice. Wether you shoot 10 rds. or 100rds. you're still going to have to clean it. I certainly don't want to clean my rifle every time I use it. Over cleaning promotes access wear and tear and is generally a PITA. I guess that's the choice you make for saving money on ammo. It's a trade off to be sure.

Personally, I don't know why more manufacturers haven't picked up on offering the x39mm. I guess sales aren't exactly high? I dunno. Ruger has offered the chamberring off and on over the years but it hasn't been consistent. Other than Savage & CZ I'm not aware of others planning to offer it. It's a shame.

Now that the .300 Blackout has shown some growth in popularity, I would expect to see more in the way off manual repeating firearms chamberred in it. In a way, I can see where it will all but eclipse x39mm in anything but cheap Com Bloc Era firearms.

My sentiments also. I shoot the CanAm Norinco non-corrosive in my SKS's and CZ527. FYI, although not a bolt action, I did come across this single shot listing at Gagnon Sports. I'm not familiar with this rifle.

I have this rifle. It is a break action single shot. It is surprisingly well made especially the spiral barrel. Wood is so-so. Quite accurate, but not really scope friendly.

I have had several bolts in 7.62 x 39 and all have shown quite good accuracy with decent handloads and fair enough plinking accuracy with the surplu ammo. Cleaning takes all of a couple of minutews with corrosive so is not an issue. The best of the lot is the Ruger MK II stainless version and the Hawkeye compact is not far behind. I have a Mini-mauser on the way and will see how it stacks up to the other two when the snow is gone.

Bars 4-1
Remington 799

I'm trying to find someone who can
Import bars 4-1 from izmash
No luck yet, would be nice with posp weaver mount scope

I just bought a CZ 527 Carbine for $800...it's getting shipped out to me in the next few days.

thinking of buying some of those Chinese SKS from Wolverine too, keep one original, and tacticool the other two ;)

I'd like to get my hands on a Zastava M85 Mannlicher in x39. Epp's has to M85 Sporters for $700 I believe.

be nice to get some more actions in this caliber for one to wildcat with. :)

Has anyone tried the norinco JW103? I know it's nothing compared to the M77 or CZ...

I used to have one. Accuracy was no better than an SKS with mine, so I sold it here in the EE a couple of years back. Trigger was nice though. Used both milsurp and factory brass loads.

My Baikal single shot is not too bad at all. I knock down 3x4 plates at 300 with it.

I have a No.1 I re-chambered in this round. Accuracy is not too bad with the milsurp. Hand loads sucked. Still trying to figure that one out.

Contrary to comments on this thread, there isn't a lot of interest in a 7.62x39 bolt gun. Had my LE No.4 that I re-chambered, up for trade or sale a few months ago. Two inquiries only and I think they wanted me to give the rifle away. I still have it as I'm not going to just give it away.

I found one on the EE a while back. At 100 yards i have just as good of groups with chinese non corrosive milsurp as i do with my .308 savage at the same distance with cheapo winchester. Groups are usually around 4" (i'm no marksman, admittedly need more practise). I can't say wether or not the rifle can do better in someone elses hands, or if it is typical, but i am more than happy with the accuracy i have gotten from mine.

Yes they do and it is $800.00! Why cant they do a axis version scope package and sell around $300 - $400.Just a reliable bolt gun for a great price.I see they make the axis in most calibers known to man and a few I have never heard of but no 7.62X39. I think the North Koreans may have something to do with this!
