7.62x39 rifles?

The Russian milsurp copper washed 7.62x39 ammo is very consistent.

I've got a Savage 10 FCM chambered in the round, and when shooting the Russian stuff it will easily do 1 MOA. This is about the same as I can achieve with the factory Hornady SST loads. I was really impressed with the milsurp, especially given I picked it up from LeBaron's for about 16 cents a round.

The S&B seems a little inconsistent. Most shots group well but there is always a flyer or two.

My new cz 527 I don't have a scope for it yet? Anyone have any suggestions? Short , compact 2x-7x??? Bigger then a 20mm tube? Maybe a illuminated recticle? With the .311 barrel the factory shot target at 50M was 2 shots on top of each other and one flyer a inch over !! That would be with open sights? So operator error? Either way the short true mauser action is nice. Fit and finish is very good. And with the CA sharkanado deal it was $720 free shipping.

I used to have one. Accuracy was no better than an SKS with mine, so I sold it here in the EE a couple of years back. Trigger was nice though. Used both milsurp and factory brass loads.

My Baikal single shot is not too bad at all. I knock down 3x4 plates at 300 with it.

I have a No.1 I re-chambered in this round. Accuracy is not too bad with the milsurp. Hand loads sucked. Still trying to figure that one out.

Contrary to comments on this thread, there isn't a lot of interest in a 7.62x39 bolt gun. Had my LE No.4 that I re-chambered, up for trade or sale a few months ago. Two inquiries only and I think they wanted me to give the rifle away. I still have it as I'm not going to just give it away.

There is lots of interest in a 7.62x39 bolt rifle but just not $800+ price point. I bet they would fly off the shelf at $400 and change.

I've been looking for a Norinco JW-103 for quite some time....if a used CZ 527 came along for the right price, I'd jump on it, but for now I wait patiently...the savage scout is out of my price range for a bolt gun chambered in 7.62x39

Cz527 in 7.62x39 is back in stock. Grab one while you can for 799.
I almost purchased one from another vendor last week for 929, I'm glad I waited.

Dammit. I wasn't expecting these any time soon so I went ahead and plunked down for a Mossberg shotty from another sponsor...

Rifle this month. Ammo next month. It's all good :)

I have 2 Baikal single shot break hammerless action rifles, one in 308 Win and the other is in 7.62x39. They are both very accurate and light.
They break down into 3 pieces so they make a good compact trail gun. The barrels are hammer forged in a spiral, just like a Mannlicher Schoenaur Real neat little guns

I really need an inexpensive bolt rifle for surplus 7.62x39. $800+ is too much for a gun that will likely be ruined by cheap ammo.
If I were shooting expensive ammo, this rifle would have been ideal. Good thing it's sold out. I was tempted.

Please explain, "likely ruined by cheap ammo."

These rifles were made to shoot anything from cheap corrosive surplus to factory new ammo. Regardless of the price of the rifle or what ammo you put through it, you SHOULD be cleaning and maintaining it within 24 hours of shooting anyway. Whether it's 1 round or 500, don't let the sun set on a dirty gun.

Where did you get these?

I do clean my guns after a shoot. I'm more concerned about the steel bullet going down the barrel and wearing it down.

I have a Mossberg MVP Varmint in 5.56 and really like it. I didn't know they made a 7.62x39 model.
Thanks, I'll have a look. All I found were the 7.62 Nato version which is 7.62 x 51 I believe.
Can you shoot 7.62 x 39 out of these?
