There won't be much of a loss.Well loss in powder used and recoil.
I have a ton of load information.
And a loss in velocity, I know because I have / had both...

You helped me out with my 7-08 a few years back. I took your advice with sierra 150 gr game king bt bullets with H4350 powder. That combination was the most accurate in my rifle. Thanks again Kelly. There won't be much of a loss.Well loss in powder used and recoil.

He means bullets made out of solid copper (no lead). Mono bullets are tough and penetrate well, but have a reputation of not ecpanding enough at low velocities. Examples are Barnes bullets, Nosler E-Tips and Hornady GMX.

Thanks to all of you for the information so far ! Very good information I might add , I'm learning a lot here !
I bought a new Winchester in the 1970's in 30.06 for some reason it was a lemon, lot's of problems . Sort of shy about going that make again . "Once bitten twice shy" !

Open your eyes how? The 30/06 compares very well with the 7/08.If you really want to surprise yourself go compare some 140gr bullets in 7-08 to 150gr loads in 30-06 for down range ballistics, no practical world use but it sure will open your eyes.
You can load up the 110 and 120 TTSX to respectable velocity....
huh?.thanks supercub..lol

I haven't had the opportunity to try mine out on a moose yet. I have only been able to shoot whitetail so far. I have been using 139gr SST going a low MV of 2650fps.
The gun was originally a .243 but I rebarreled it to 7mm-08. There has been a noticeable increase in performance with the 7mm. On a WT the 7mm smacks the crap out them. I am betting that a bonded bullet (interbond) with a increased MV (a change in powder has yielded an easy 2800 fps and not much for recoil change) would be potent medicine for a big animal.
They are not the same m70 as they were back then. Not even owned by the same people.
With 139's you should be up in the high 2800. I'm getting 2895 with 139gr hornday sst, interlock and h4350. Not pushing them overly hard either.

I think it shows that the 30/06 after all these years is still very hard to beat for all around use. Many still think the 7-08 doesn't offer much, so comparing it to the favorite 30-06 shows it has it.
