8th Annual Upper Canada Double Gun Classic

Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend this year. We have sold our house and we're moving back to AB. I'll definitely miss meeting up with everyone. Looking forward to seeing some pictures!

Maybe we can get an AB event going in the near future.

Patrick, it was a pleasure all those years ago to meet you the first time I attended the classic. And to get together all the times since. Best wishes in the next chapter. Good choice with the AB hunting and fishing opportunities.

Don’t distract Patrick. He needs to get to work building my guest room/gun room as that will be my new western base of hunting operations. Now I need to figure out what guns will be based there. Laugh2.

Thanks John. The pleasure has been mine. I've met so many good people at the classic. I am looking forward to all the hunting and fishing opportunities in AB and the time to enjoy it.

I wish Id had the pleasure to meet you Patrick. Hopefully someday as you seem worthy bye the kind words spoken from the fine group here. Best of luck in the move back too Alberta. Beautiful province with lots of opportunities already mentioned, both in fishing and hunting!!

Patrick, I will take lots of pictures!
Will miss seeing you at the event. A big Thanks for getting it started, it's certainly enjoyed.
I saw that the Calgary Gun Show had something like 5000 attendees, Wow!, now there's a goal for a Western Colonies Double Gun Classic!

The 8th Annual Upper Canada Double Gun Classic now has a Flyer/Add up on #######.
So for anybody wanting to share event info with people outside of CGN you can direct them to it.
Here's the link (will need to fix the gap):

The guidelines, etc make it longer.
Other than the date, time and location the most important short of it is:
1. Everyone attending needs a PAL
2. Sign in with us first
3. Fee is $25

8th ANNUAL UPPER CANADA DOUBLE GUN CLASSIC, Saturday June 1, 2024

The Double Gun Classic is meant to bring vintage double gun enthusiasts together where they can show their guns, see other interesting guns and enjoy some casual rounds of skeet.
Lots of fantastic guns will be on display. All who attend are encouraged to bring their SxS’s and compete for the Best Gun of the Year Trophy as voted by attendees.
All SxS’s welcome!

Guidelines and Pricing
The first thing upon arrival is for all non-members of the Oshawa Clay and Target Club to register at the Double Gun Classic sign-in tent and fill out the guest form.
All non-members of the club must sign-in with us first.
After completing your form you can then proceed into the office and pay the $25 guest fee. This payment can be made by cash, debit or credit.
Note that all visitors to the club require a PAL.

Target rounds for skeet will cost $10 per round of 25 targets and must be purchased through us, and in CASH ONLY.
Target rounds will be paid for and loaded through the Double Gun Classic card.

Regarding ammo the clubhouse may have some 12 gauge x 2 ¾” target shells available for sale, however it would be best if you brought your own.
Note that shells need to be 12 gauge equivalent target loads or less, sizes #7.5, #8 and #9, and black powder is not permitted.
Shooting glasses and ear protection are also required.

Some tables are available beneath the outdoor covered shelter to display your guns and gear.
However bringing your own table, cover, and chair are recommended.
If you have SXS’s and double gun related items that you’d like to sell that is also welcome.

Awards and Events
Fundraising Raffle – Limited to 100 tickets at $10 each or 3 for $25.
Three top prizes - Re-chequering by Chris Dawe (Stillwater Restorations) value $300 to $800 subject to approval depending on gun, Restored Axe by John Butler value $250, Custom made Dog Whistle by Claudio Opacak value $100.

Mike that’s a great post and super informative. Sorry I have been a bit off my game the last couple weeks. Should be mostly back by next week.

I’m going to emphasis that the $25 attendance fee is entirely a fee charged by the Oshawa club to be on their premises. None of that $25 goes to the Classic. That’s just what the club charges to be there as a guest.

Thanks James!
Good point re the $25.
We'll be relying on the raffle for our proceeds.

AND I want to point out that Canvasback has also emphasized in earlier conversations that 'Double Gun' means O/U as well as SxS!
I believe he said something like, "We won't turn away some guy who shows up with his Under Over Woodward or Westley Richards Ovundo!"
Another good point!

Thanks Mike. Looking forward to seeing the pictures! (and lots of familiar faces :))

Those raffle prizes are fantastic! Do you need to be present to buy tickets.....and win?

Hopefully you can at least stop in even if not for long. You do not want to miss out on the opportunity to become a founding member of what will soon be Canada's largest and most prestigious double gun gathering. LOL. Hopefully we have a good turnout.

I think Patrick was onto something

No you do not. In fact we are going to have the tickets available for sale in about 10 days.

Jump in the RV with Ashcroft and Cowtown Bill.

Unfortunately due to a “medical misadventure” I don’t expect to be going anywhere. I’m on a waiting list for surgery to repair the medically inflicted damage, surgery date as yet unknown, expected recovery will be another 3-4 weeks. Summer is so fleeting, I’m aiming for a good hunting season now. But I’ll certainly be there in spirit. J.
